aftermarket fog/reverse light help

so with having a 5% over factory privacy glass on back window, 30% over 5% on the side windows, and professionally smoked tail lights (pretty dark looking) with led reverse lights (cosmetic purposes) i can see ***** when backing up at night unless i open my door or stick my head out the window like a dog. lol

i ran to autozone to look at little projector fog lights to mount under my rear bumper and wire them in with my reverse lights, seems to be a simple fix and easy installation. then i seen the price tag. lol they have them listed for 35 and imo there not bright enough to pay that much for. they had cheaper ones but i want a pair thats small and wont be that noticeable and have a decent light output. is there anyplace to get some cheaper ones here on the world wide web? lol i checked out ebay but didnt really see anything. post some links and/or pics if you have any options.

thanks guys!

I got this set at Wal-Mart for $20 I think. Great value for the price I think. I didn't hook it to my reverse lights though. I kept them on a separate independent switch so I could control when I wanted them on. The package included the lights, a switch, and the necessary wiring. I had to buy additional wire to connect it up front.

how are they holding up? i may go check em out some time this week. id like to have em on a separate switch like you put for easy installation i may just tap into the reverse light wires for now and worry about running the switch later on. lol

I have a set from Walmart just like Russ. He's actually the one that kinda convinced me to get a set. Can't beat it for $19! I have them tied into my reverse lights so they always come on when I need them. I may put them on a separate switch some day though so I can flip em on for when people decide to ride my a$$ way too close. I have had them for almost 6 months now and no problems with them. Except for when they filled with water because I accidently had the drain holes on top. Even then they still worked just fine, just flickered like candlelight because of the water moving around. lol

well it just so happens i had a bd last week and my aunt just floated me 20 bucks and said "dont spend it all on one stripper" lol she was joking of course but looks like i'll be purchasing a set. lol i notice you have reverse lights in your light bar as well, did you just tie the two together and tap into the light bar reverse wire or all the way to the reverse light itself? or did you keep em seperate?

I have the light bar and my auxiliaries tied into the reverse light wire in my drivers' side taillight. The kits that we have are called Platinum Burners and I believe they were labeled as 55w driving lights, that's why they're so bright.

The best way would probably be to follow your trailer hitch wiring back along the frame, if you have a hitch. Then you could either find a way through the firewall or through the grommet below the drivers side door sill and run the wire under the carpet to where you want it by the dash.
You can splice in the power and ground from the trailer hitch wires and then just run the switch wire to the cab. Again, if you have a trailer hitch and wiring. If not, you would probably have to grab power from the battery, then go to the cab for the switch, then follow the frame to your new lights.

well i have the trailer hitch wiring but i think im still going to run it from the batter through the grommet in the firewall on the passenger side then hopefully theres a grommet on the driver side fire wall or somewhere in that region and follow the trailer wiring like you said. its mostly just finding out what you have and working with it. lol i cannot stand to see wires so i've gotten good at finding hidey holes. haha i had to velcro my radar to the dash and run the power wire through the defroster and get the power from the remote turn on for the amp a day after i bought it cause that wire all over my dash drove me insane!!

i've thought about it that too since i have a pioneer head unit that makes that possible but its not just the backing up. i also live on a ranch so we work cows and such and from time to time the lil 4.6 will pull a couple cows to the sale when the powerstroke isnt necessary. i believe these little lights will help to see to hook up to the trailer and when backing into the barn to help unload the feed. i still might do the camera eventually but for a decent one they get pretty expensive
