I didn''t .... I have worked more than a few wrecks over the last 30 years under all kinds of circumstances and it has taught me the importance of those tail and stop lamps to both your safety and to the safety of that expensive or not so expensive vehicle you drive.
I know how it's going to go if he paints his tailighhts darker and one day is in a lane leading up to a traffic light and he suddenly hit's the brakes and that couple behind him who couldn't see that light so well hit him and the trooper or officer pulls up and even though the bulb works, there's paint or other non standard and non approved coverings on those brake light lenses.
Been there, done that, more times than I can count. You don't like my way of making the point? That's fine, but yes .... I put thought into it to make the point.
I still don't get it.
Like those guys that pull trailers and never bother to check lights and you find them at 2am SB leading a "black hole"?

What you haven't taken in to account is that these may be off road tails only. In which case two rants have been for naught.
