Question Entire Windshield Tinted over Strip? Tint

Hey all, well Ive really been wanting to tint my front windshield forever, I have 5% on all .. sides and rear, and the top front windshield eyebrow strip. Im wantin to tint front windshield about 35% but want to have or keep the eyebrow strip.. if I have them tint the entire windshield over the strip would it look like crap.. meaning will I end up seeing a line on the outside in between the strip and the new tint over it? Or will I not even be able to notice its been tinted over? I hate to rip it off, go have the whole thing tinted then have to pay for another strip but if it will look better than ill have to do it then? anybody done this ?

I had my windshield tinted but i didnt have the strip. Ive seen on my friends rides that you can see the strip still even if you tint over it but a lot of guys do it to try and throw off cops so they dont noticed that the whole thing is done. I vote remove the strip and just tint it all 35% and be done. It looks sweet and I really want to do it again on my new truck but I also dont want my insurence company to drop in the event of a front end accident. Good luck and you can prolly google windshield tint and find some pictures of guys who have tinted over the strip.

If you already have a strip, just tint the whole window. The reason for me saying this is becuase, they will have to pull the strip off to lay a whole peace on the windshield. Putting tint on top of tint is not a problem, but putting it over a piece of glass, and tint, there would be air underneath it where the old tint starts. Just saying, I could be wrong, but I wouldn't want to open myself up to the possibility of it bubbling.

When they do the windshield they usually do the whole thing first, let you wait a few days, and then put the strip on top. I see no issue with them doing it the other way around, but they may not want to. Even if you do have to take it off, a new strip isn't but what, $15?

i was thinking the same thing, the only other thing you would be out is the charge to take the old eyebrow off, but i would think if they're doing your whole window and reapplying the eyebrow, it would be free of charge....

Sounds good... friend did 5% on the back window of the 95 and could not see the trailer to back it.

if it was me i would just take the strip off and tint my windshield 35% or 20%. i think the strip looks a little too tacky myself. on my f-150 i have all my windows 5% and my winshield tinted 35% with no strip...

Do it, man. Adding a strip to the windshield afterwards is no issue. What was talked about earlier was doing the windshield over the strip, which would cause the slight difference in height (and possibly bubbles). Since your windshield is tinted, though, there will be no ridge to go over.

With 35% tint the strip is barely noticeable from the outside. It does help tremendously from the inside, though, especially when driving into the sun.

You are best off removing it and having the windshield done first because you will have a thin green line where the end of the current strip and the windshield tint meet. It will be obvious its tinted, and not look so good up close.

i got 2.5% on the sides and on the back... and then up front i have 20% and 5%... a roll of tint doesn't stretch top to bottom of the windshield, so after laying it out on the outside of the glass, i roll out the 5% for the top 9" or so. i don't overlap, if you do it right, take your time, there won't be a line. plus, it really does look like just the top is tinted...

i'm trying to find a pic or two to show what i mean... guess i'll just take some new ones in a few...
