I would also add polishing inbetween clears to see where your at. Use 2000 grit with very soapy water ( dish detergent in half full bucket ) and dont stop until the little orange peel bumps are gone. You will be able to tell what you have smoothed out when you dry it and it looks chalky. Get it to look completely chalky and polish it up, you will like your gloss finish.

Darren your insane!!! Haha. But if you'd like i'd say get them professionally done. Got my tails and thrid done for 60 bucks. Very dark. They did around 3 coats of black mixed with clear and came out amazing. I wouldn't even call them tinted haha they are just straight up black tails now. Led bulbs helped out alot too.

Yep, thats my next plan. I had a project tail light so I smoked it and worked with numerous clear coats and darkness levels. One of the last things I did was opened it up and painted the reverse section, and didn't to the rest, but I put a black shirt in it for one shot. Its definitely one of my plans to come real shortly.

Three light VHT layers, and 2 clear coats of Dupli-Color acrylic enamel

Acryllic lacquer. I tinted my reflector lenses and painted my mirror caps and applied the lacquer clear heavy to the point everything looked wet and evenly coated. It dried exactly the same, super glossy and very little to no orange peel. I didn't even have to wet sand or put a final polish on anything.

I've had no problems using it, and I've read several how-to's on other forums where others have used acrylic lacquer over Nite Shades.

I'm going to do my tails and 3rd light soon. I want to go dark but don't want to bring attention from the cops. Do you guys that have done it think 2 or 3 light coats would not be so dark where I would get tickets? Can you still see the brake lights pretty good with 3 coats?

What do I need to take the 3rd light off? Is it sealed and I have to reseal it? Can the 3rd light be as dark as I want it and not be a concern for a ticket?
