Nightshade VS Vinyl tint
Nightshade VS Vinyl tint
So I want to tint my tails but not sure whether to do the vinyl wrap or nightshade them. The vinyl is probably more expensive but more work. Just curious what you guys think?
i dont know anything about vinyl covers, but i can say niteshades is great stuff. i did mine for less than 10 bucks and i think it looks awesome. you can get them really dark and the light output is still surprisingly good

i would think the only reason vinyl would be better is that it might be removeable when it is time for inspection, etc. but then again i dont know anything about it.
all i know is, i vote for niteshades lol

having done the vinyl...stay away from it...pain in the ***, you can tell its just a vinyl piece since the edges show...bubbles.
I would do niteshades for sure...I am glad I did mine and removed the vinyl crap

Niteshades is cheap, but is a PITA is you aren't careful.
Vinyl, I think depends. I've used the Lamin-X Vinyl on my fogs.
I think that it's great on a flat surface. Easy to apply, and protects the lamp,
Although, I can see it really sucking to apply on a rounded surface (heads, tails, etc.)
There is one other option that nobody's mentioned yet though.
It's on the expensive side, but some aftermarket shops (or body shops)
will do this. It's painting the lamps with an automotive grade clear mixed with
black. They used to do this at the garage I used to work at. I think that they charged
like $100 a light. Like I said, it's pricey, but it looks much, much more OEM than
Niteshades. It has a high gloss finish like paint. Since they're mixing the paint for you,
they can match your window tint. Looks, freakin awesome!
(If money were no option, I'd do it on a set of Harley tails.... )

IMO, it comes out very runny (comparatively to other spray).
If you aren't careful, it will fisheye.
Maybe I just suck at using it though.

ive never had any problems with it....
and even if you messed it up somehow you can always just sand it back down and start over, it wont make a difference.
well i guess sometimes it does come out "orange peel"-y but you cant notice it unless youre up close. and even that is easily remedied with some polish.
point is, do niteshades lol
