For Those Painting/Replacing Cowl or Flares

I need to paint my flares and cowl and for those of you who have done this, you know how much of a hassle the plastic clips are to remove and reuse. I heard the clips are ~$15 for a set but I found them on eBay for much cheaper. They also have shorter ones available but the ones shown here are identical to the what I see on the flares. So this weekend, I am just going to cut the ends off my clips, remove and paint the flares and cowl and bought two packs of new clips for fast and easy installation.

Hope this helps someone:

Thanks for the info. You saved me a lot of research time. I ordered a set too. Let us know how the painting and re-install goes. I plan on doing the same thing in the future.

You need to cut them off. I dont think you can pull them off and be able to reuse them. I think I paid about $11 for 33 (2x 15 packs and a 3 pack) from Autozone. I had to go to like 3 different ones to get them all too . You will need 32 for the flares if you take off the little plastic parts behind them.

Think it took me about 30 min to remove all the flares. Theres also 2 bolts on the inside of the front flares near the bumper that you need to take off.
If you don't have the paint already its Duplicolor T299 DSG. Get 3 cans and a clear.

Good to know. I knew there were a lot of clips but didn't know there were 32! I bought two bags (50) so I'll be good. As for the paint, I am going with black and not ptm.
