HID's and "regular" bulbs. Possible purchase mistake?

Fog light bulbs recently went out. Didnt want to spend a lot of money for replacements, so found THESE on ebay.

100W H3 bulbs which is what I have/had that burned out. But just realized(stoopid me) they say HID. Does that make a difference or will they still work just fine?

Thanks,
Rob

well since hids for cars dont come in 100watts i supposed that the bulbs you bought were just some colored or tinted 100w bulbs. they might be blueish looking and preform worse than the ones the came in the lights.

bad link

a lot of ebay suppliers out there will say "HID" and "Xenon" on their normal halogen bulbs to trick people they are getting the real deal for a fraction of the price. they are possibly just regular H3 bulbs with a blue coating to make them seem less yellowish.

Sorry, Heres a good link. Scroll down.

Link

They called "100W H3 Super White Xenon HID Headlight Light Bulbs x2" . Less then $10. Get what you pay for, I know, just not ready to blow the bank on lights yet.

Do you have factory or aftermarket fog lights? Looking at your pics they look like factory fog lights which are H10 not H3.

They will be okay but they probably won't be as good as the stock bulbs since they have a blue tint on the lens. Also be sure to check your factory wiring harness periodically to make sure the higher wattage bulb isn't burning the wiring. I've had that problem in the past......

You're probably going to get better output with stock lights.

Yea, my bad. Actually talking about the KC fog lights on the bullbar up front. The ones they came with were 100w H3. Bought some ultra white 100w H3's off eBay. Mainly because all the other lights are ultra white and wanted them to match. :o But one of them has since burned out thus why I'm getting a new set.

Just wasnt sure if they would work. I'm no light expert but I have read that for HID's you need other "stuff". Wanted to make sure these will still work fine.

yeah those are direct plug-and play halogens. they will have less luminous output (nothing you'll notice) but will be more closer to a white light.

Just make sure they don't melt you harnesses. And wiring...those puppies will draw a butt load if power.

I don't know of any manufacturer using a 100W bulb in fog lights............that's some serious heat..........

They try and bump up the power to make the bulb turn out more light.....but it ends up melting you housing, harnesses, etc...
