I"d get the mag hi-tech!

1) fill hole
2) Drain hole
3) dip stick
4) o-ring, no messy RTV Gasket maker.

WORTH THE MONEY!!!!

You don't want a chrome one.

First of all it is under your truck and it will never look clean unless you crawl under and polish it on a regular basis.

Secondly, I have read that the chrome plated ones don't dissipate heat well. It would be a step down from the factory cover that comes on the truck for heat dissipation. If you haul anything or tow anything you don't want that.

When my diff cover was leaking I figured I would upgrade as I tow a travel trailer and haul my quad. IMO the Mag-hytech covers were the nicest ones around and the drain and fill holes with the dipstick set them apart from the rest. The price sets them apart too. They are the most expensive ones I saw at the time.

If you are going to change it out I would look for Aluminum with some sort of cooling fins on it. There are a few to choose from. If you just want a painted one paint the factory one and save yourself some cash.

I've looked into differential covers before just for looks, and I really like the look of the Mag-Hytecs. If I was to get one what all would be invovled? Would it be worth getting one if I flush the rear axle? I'm at 81,000 miles and thought it would be good to flush it by 80k - 100k and I wanna try to replace my OEM cover with the Mag.

More importantly, would it be worth putting on my truck? I mean its only a 3.73 LSD, leveled, and on 33s, theres no major requirments for them is there? like largwer gears? I do not wish to upgrade gears because I do not plan in lifting or running any bigger tire.

If your going to take off your cover I'd consider getting a new cover.

However, I'm not sure but I don't think you need to worry about your gear oil. I think that stuff pretty much lasts the life of the vehicle.

I wouldn't worry about it till around 130K or so.

Not sure though, maybe someone else will chime in.

If your taking the cover off replace the gear oil. My truck has around 60,000 miles and I replaced mine. I think most guys here are changing theirs out in the 60,000 to 100,000 mile range.

The advantage of the Mag is that it will hold an extra quart of oil and combined with the cooling fins your diff will run cooler. If you tow or haul anything that is a good thing. It looks great too.

Would it be worth putting on your truck? That is up to you. You don't need to re-gear to use one just pull the old cover off and put the new one on. It comes with complete installation instructions. Fill with 75w140 synthetic GL-5 gear oil and put in a bottle and a 3rd of the Ford Friction Modifier (I just put two 4 oz bottles in first and then 4 quarts of oil to put me up to the recomended level.
