Thanks everyone.

I love the black and white theme. I had a 99 ranger before... completely blacked out. And I loved it but everyone in my town started doing the same thing. So when i stepped up to the f150, i decided to be a little different.

How did you paint the mirror caps?

KR-Texas, I love the new tails you put on your truck. I'm really skittish about nightshading my tails because I've already been in enough trouble with the police. So the Harley's are my next option. It always seems pictures don't do them justice. Are they noticably darker than what the pictures show?

Yes. They look darker in person. I did not want to try the night shades route either and I wanted to keep a look that was as close to factory as possible. The HDs look good and the reverse light looks a lot darker than the pictures. They were $101 shipped to my door and very easy to replace.

Is this what you used to paint the badges?

When I painted mine, I used Krylon Fusion Satin Black which I bought at a local Hobby Lobby for $5.49 a can. The paint works better on plastics.

Here are some pictures of the paint when I was painting my running boards.

The original poster mentioned he used the same paint on his badges.

Correct KR-Texas. I just used the Krylon Fusion Satin Black. Roughed up the badges with 180, 3 light coats of the Krylon Fusion, sanded again with 320, then 2 more heavy coats.

Very simple to do. Well worth the time.

I popped the mirror glass off. Got the 3 or 4 screws out that hold them In. Masked off the bottom portion. Scuffed them up good to get rid of the textured look of them. Shot them wit 2 coats primer, 3 coats white then 3 coats clear. Probably one of the things I like most on my truck. It gives it a totally different look.

Sounds easy enough. I'd just be afraid of breaking something. Playing with plastic pieces scares me a little.

How do they hold up to rocks and bugs? I snowboard every weekend during the winter and the rocks tear up my paint.
