You didn't use adhesion promoter? They have it in the same section at some of the Advances, not sure on Auto Zones. I used it when doing my mirrors since it's supposed to help adhere the paint with the plastic.

On another project, we used adhesion promoter followed with primer, then proceeded to the paint. I guess we'll compare to see if the primer helps in longevity.

Did you use adhesion promotor?

Most paints dont stick to ABS very long without it

Looks very nice.

I just thought of something, all of the chrome parts on your Rockstars, what if they were DSG instead of chrome

I had a small step ladder that I sat on to do the painting. I had paint dust on my knees from the few times I had to kneel down, but my back was not sore...

I thought about taking them off, like I did when I removed my running boards to paint them black. I do not have a good place to paint large items except up against the wall in my garage on a table not really meant for painting. When I did the RBs, I got paint overspray on the wall and the table, so now it looks like a paint shop in my garage. sigh...

I weighed the pro's and con's of both methods and decided to paint these on the truck. I had a few small spots where the tape pulled on the paint, so it might have turned out cleaner by removing them, but I am happy with the way they turned out.

I was originally planning to paint them with Black or Gray Krylon Fusion Paint, so I did not think adhesion promoter and/or primer was needed. However, when buying the high heat paint for my exhaust, I stumbled across the Duplicolor Dark Shadow Gray and decided to use it for a closer color match. I hope it lasts, but if not, I will strip it off at a high pressure car wash and start over with adhesion promoter.

So far it looks good, but it has only been on for two days and I have yet to wash the truck. I plan to wash it by hand tonight to see how it does with a simple water and towel cleaning.

Chrome might be a little harder to paint. From what I have read, you will want to use Red Scotch pads and adhesion promoter on the chrome. I did not use adhesion promoter when I painted my chrome badges, but I used the Krylon Fusion satin black paint which works well with plastic and does not require primer, etc.

Unfortunately, Krylon Fusion does not come in Dark Shadow Gray, so you will have to go with the Duplicolor paint. It should be available at most automotive parts stores.

looks good, but i'm still undecided on doing mine i really think the black offsets the dsg, i guess its one of those things where a certain color grows on ya. but after seeing yours i may do mine and if i dont like it well i can always repaint them black
