I will have pics very shortly, my tails are at the body shop getting cleared right now because I want them more glossy

Currently I have the recon LED third brake light (which crapped out my cruise control function), and 3157 LED bulbs in the brake lights, recon line of fire, and factory led signal mirrors.

I got the LED bulbs off LEDtronics, almost 80 bucks for the pair I believe, bought a 20 dollar set of 63 LEDs off ebay for when I had them in my ranger since it had 2 bulbs in each light, put out the same amount of light. However the LED tronics bulbs look like there was alot more effort put into the design. In a few years I'll estimate these ones will still be working.

For the reverse lights I'm thinking I may go with v-leds.

I like this solution the best since I think all the aftermarket tails look ricey but I like the crisp look of LEDs

*edit* Remember to pick up an electronic flasher to make your signals work properly, about 15 bucks at any parts store

Well LEDs in a stock housing are do-able, there is a side effect- the reflectors in the tail light is designed for a spherical-shaped bulb. LEDs dont fit that profile, so even if you get a 30+ LED bulb with forward- and side-firing LEDs, they dont strike the reflectors as much. Point being- an incandescent bulb in a stock housing will be brighter than an LED in a stock housing. A chipboard such as the Recons have the LEDs pointed directly where the reflectors are meant to shine, so the Recon lights would look "cleaner" but its all up to you.

Also, you can go on eBay, theres a company that makes LED tails freaking identical to Recons for 1/4 the price. I got my Recon knockoff's for $130, and comparing them to the pics on the Recon site, theres not one single difference.

you know what would be real slick as far as LED bulbs go, lots of ranger guys have been putting in L122R LED bulbs off Mountaineers in their stock taillights, they put out way more light than any aftermarket bulb and are designed to fire in all directions like an incadescent so it fills up the reflector properly and actually exceeds the light output

I can find out more info and probably point someone in the right direction if anyone is interested

Does require a little hands on action, epoxy the mountaineer socket to your factory taillight so it pops out just like it does for any other bulb

So the taurus x comes factory with LED bulbs? Do you know anything more about those? For instance can you just get the bulb and pigtail from that vehicle and put it on another ya think?

well if your giving me the green light...

Definately check out these threads from the ranger board I'm on concerning the L1224R LED bulbs, it appears that if you want the best light output with OEM quality this is definately the way to go:

These LEDtronics 3157 red bulbs are the ones I have in my F150 now, I'm no scientist and can't give you any numbers but they are just as bright if not brighter than the regular filament bulbs:

http://ledtronics.com/products/Produ...px?WP=C143K107

In my ranger I ran those in the same light as these 63 LED bulbs off ebay for 20 bucks, just about the same light output and a fraction of the cost. I still like the LEDtronics way better tho, seems like there was alot more design involved to get 30 LEDs to be brighter than 63, I've heard from lots of people that a few of the LEDs crap out over time on these ones:

great info you posted , the conversion with the mountaineer lights seems pretty simple , in the 3rd thread/link he basically took the stock plug hole off the mountaineer and jbwelded it on top the stock housings. then just a matter of splicing and dicing .

i would love to try that but , with the amount of money/fabrication needed , i think i ll just go with stock bulb replacements leds.

i see the link you posted above for where you got your tails, but i tried searching for the other bulbs , and it looks like they do not have them.
any recommendations as far as websites where i can get everything where it will all match ?

tail light leds , reverse leds , cargo lights ?
and you also mentioned an electronic flasher , can you tell me abit more about this , it is necessary so that the bulbs will flash when you hit the turn signals ? also is the electronic flasher plug and play ?

sorry for all the noob questions ,but i honestly have to clue about this stuff

edit : i checked out the website you posted where you got your tails again, towards the bottom of the page there is a "multi-mode" 3157 bulb with brake/turn and tail lamp , is that the one you got and also would i still need an electronic flasher for those multi-mode leds ?
