It is just my opinion but they only color that can pull off a 'fully' painted mirror is black, it just flows with the window lines. Any other color looks out of place. That said I think painting just the skull caps is an awesome idea

Only the top... i have a black truck and i still only painted the top. Looks tacky and out of place if the whole mirror is painted

To get the tops off, take a long flat head screwdriver and pry the actual mirror out of the housing. Then there are 3 or 4 bolts to take off and the top of the housing will come off, no need to take the whole mirror off the truck

take the mirror and push in the bottom and look on the top, there will be a circle glued to the black of the glass, take a thin screwdriver and GENTLY slip it between the black ring and the motor, twist, it should pop right off.

Thanks for the tip! I am doing those next. I just did my FX4 fender flares in DSG and they came out pretty good for a rattle can.

I used DupliColor Graphite Grey Metallic. It is very close to Ford DSG. Don't get DupliColor Charcoal Metallic. It is too cool and doesn't match. (Hard to tell from the two paint can tops). Then put about 3 coats of DupliColor clear to finish it off.

Got my paint at Kragen.
