Gauge Cluster questions

I have a SuperCrew with stock cluster. Can I change my cluster with on with a tach like the Lariat or other models?

Is there plugs for the tach behind the stock cluster? Does the odo show what the truck actually are on teh stock cluster?

thanks for the noob questions, I am slowly learning as this is my first truck and love it.

you can change it, the new one has to be from the same year, and has to have the same or more miles so that you can swap them at the same mileage...The mileage WILL NOT transfer onto a new cluster...it stays with it. You will have to get the dealer to reflash the PCM to get the tach to work. I did it on mine, works wonderfully

What year truck do you have? Is it an 01-03, 04-08, or 09?

Yeah, the tech guys at the stealership are going to have to flash the PCM. And if you can find a cluster in good shape, your looking to spend a Ben Franklin here...

Luckily with the 97-98 year, I was able to swap mine out 'cause I dont have a PATS

But I will agree, a tach is most definitely helpful and fun to have.

pop off the HVAC, remove screws there (i think all are either 5mm or 7mm) then pop off the thing that surrounds the sterring wheel, remove those, the 3 above the cluster, one is by your left knee by the fuse panel, and another is around there accessed by pulling the panel off. you also have to remove the headlight controls.
