Roof Racks

So I just wanted to get some opinions on roof racks. Ive got a propane alt-fuel kit on my truck which takes of the spare tire location. I never use it, and wouldnt mind getting rid of it, but its nice only paying 20 bucks for a two year registration...

So I've been thinking about doing something like this...

or...on my body style truck...

Now...I live in the desert and I've always been a fan of the prerunner style trucks. Not so much the ones that sit 3 inches higher in the front, but more like 1/2 an inch. I think the roof rack would be a great way for me to mount a spare tire, as well as add some driving lights for when im not in the city. What do you guys think?

I'm not really a big fan, but if it's going to be funtional and you like it, then go for it. Just my thoughts...

It kinda looks neat, but the lights are way to huge.

I use my bed quite a bit gixxer, and enjoy having a functional tailgate as opposed to one of those swing gate ones that hold the tire, or one that mounts closer to the bed as it would eat up way too much bedspace...

I dunno, maybe not so much for the tire, its just an idea. Ive got AAA so if i ever need a tow due to a flat id be okay...but I deffinitly like the look of the rack with the lights, albeit id probablly go with some smaller ones...

what size tire you running? Plan on Running? A 35" tire will be fine up on the roof. It when you start putting 37's and up on there. Then it becomes a problem getting them down SAFTELY without hitting a car in the process.

The roof rack will look good. But id get one that has alittle better FLOW and smaller lights.

I say do the roof rack. I dont like the fender on that 97-03 they are WAY too high IMO. maybe if the rear matched it might be ok. Or if they actually had some tire in them lol.

Ive only got 285's as it is and 35's would probablly be the biggest i'd go, even with a 6 inch lift. And I deffinitly wont be doing a body kit unless I dont a long travel, which unforetuneatly I dont have an extra 5 grand laying around for right now...

Oh by the way Trimble, Ive got some pics of a truck we did a system in that im gonna throw up in the suspension forum a lil later...I think you'll like them.
