what does this do?

i was looking at ram air hoods and they sell them with "Hood w/Air Box & High Flow Filter"

What is that? does it attach to something like if u buy a CAI, or just sit in there separate its own little system..

BTW i have been getting a lot, i mean A LOT of feedback/answers from F150online and i really appreciate it

I am not 100% sure, but I believe it is a mini-filter that sits behind the intake opening so a bug isnt shoved into the screen of your CAI or something like that.

On hoods of them new gutted down street rods, some have the ram openings that are actually real, and not that fake plastic crap. Well, with ram openings, comes dirt, and dirt builds up on the engine. So they place filter-like gauze ( I call it gauze cause it doesnt look much like a filter to me) behind it so that your engine isint caked with dust.

But see, then again, i've also seen set ups that they'd feed right off of the opening. More of a muscle car thing, but they usually have a secondary filtration system somewhere so when the hoods open its not sucking in crap.

round and round we go i think i get it, if ur getting the ram air hood (or like)
buy the one with the air filter so u dont scoop crap into ur engine

its worth the xtra few hundred bucks (or however much u find it for)
