HELP! HID kit or new bulbs

I was thinking about getting new headlights for my truck. I just wanted to get new xenon or halogen bulbs and but them into my stock headlights. Is this possible, or do I have to get an HID kit with ballasts and everything else? Any help will do? Thanks.

If you are searching for brighter lights than your stocks then HID conversion kit will be it.
6K or 8K are the most common used.
6K - Majority white with light blue
8K - More blue with a hint of white

You can get new bulbs and be fine but you will not get much more light out put. IF you are going for brighter then HID conversion will be the way to go. If you want to retain your high beams then you will want to order a bi xenon kit. William has told you about the colors so I will skip that. But honestly if you are thinking about using Silverstar Ultras then you are looking at roughly $80 for fogs and heads. Depending on where you buy and the options you want, you can get two kits from $100-$200. I would do the headlights with HID's and then save for the fogs.

I personally would not go back to running regular headlamps ever again. I am working on getting a set of HID's for my girl friends car now as well. The amount of light out put is night and day difference. Plus they look a million times cooler One last thing either way make sure you re aim the head lamps so you don't blind other drivers.
