Bed rails?

what does everyone use on their 97-03 f150's? i had replaced my stcok plastic bed rails with a set of tape on bak industries ones, and they are basically junk, waste of money they were they dont even sit evenly, and the front ends have gaps and all water runs under them and down my paint with dirt in it. so im about to order a set of factory ones from ford because im sick of these and the oem ones are at least clipped on and tight fit. but before i do this what does everyone else do?

You cant beat OEM fit & quality. I love my OEM bedcaps, standard on all F150s, great thing, something Chevy & Dodge need to catch up on.

If you want a better grip to the caps you could probably have them line-x'd. Never heard of that being done though on plastic yet. If the bed rails are smooth you could probably have the rails line-x'd. Thats what the Chevy guys do and its great and lasts.

darren, are you guys with the newer trucks, do they still have all holes in the top of the bed to snap on the bed rail caps? so i couldnt just leave mine off it would look horrible! hopefully ford wont charge me an arm and leg for them.

Yes my truck has the steak holes in them, but they have plastic caps in them. Well not as bad as how Chevys look with their no bed rails and open steak holes, if you had them line-x'd and the holes done too it could look decent, however, the tailgate trim on Fords will make it look a little out of place, and no tailgate top looks horrible..

yes i have the stakc holes too. i meant i have all little holes down the whole side where the underneath of the plastic bed rails snap into, so without bed rails would look horrible.

Oh theres holes in there huh, well I should have expected that. I'm sure they would spray over them, or you could fill them all up, but then there no more flush fit factory caps, but if you line-x'd them there wouldn't ever be a need for the factory caps.

& thanks. Wait until I do it next summer when I have Super 44s
