Another Headlight question for the pros...

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the Silverstar lights?
Do they have the white effect and are they brighter than the stock light I have?

Can i get them for the fog lights too?

Also can i buy just bulbs and swap or do i need a conversion kit?

Silverstars Ultras are amazing, IMO. I have a pair of the 9007 lights in my L heads and the light is pure white (4100K) and they are much brighter than stock! They cost about $50 from any autoparts store, and as soon as I get all my stuff together for my fog setup, I will be using Silverstars H3 bulbs in my fogs also.

I like them alot, they are a good $$ alternative to HIDs

Eh, I don't know. I used to run both regular SS's and Ultras and never noticed a difference between the both of them. At first they seemed brighter, but I think it's just that my eyes perceived the white as brighter. Later on after I got used to them, it seemed that they weren't that much brighter, if at all, than stock.

Running 4300k HIDs, and there is no comparison. You can get cheap HIDs for 70 bucks now on ebay.

But to answer your question, the SS's just swap out your stock bulbs.

True. But for the money and time/effort of install, SS are the way to go.

I will eventually get some 4300K or 4500K (if they make them) to put in my L heads like mark's.

Elvato, can you PM me some night pics of you HIDs? thanks.

alright, so I called Autozone, advance, pep boys, orilley and napa. No one had a part # for an H13 silverstar ultra!!! kinda strange.,

So I picked up a set of silverstars for $35 and just took about 10 minutes to install both. Going to go check them out when it gets a little darker

So, if I want to go the HID route, how much should I be paying to have them installed?

well you dont pay to have them installed. you pay about $150 for bi-xenon (low AND high beam function, a must) and they send you out a kit which contains something called a ballast, the two bulbs, some wiring, etc and you install them. took me about 35 mins to do min. also should add i did it while on break at work! they are like night and day, comparing HIDs to silverstars. my HIDs are pictured below

Guess I'm not the only one -
Couldn't fine Ultra's in an H13 anywhere - even on-line - so settled for the standards.
From what I have read, the Ultra's are supposed to last longer than the standard silverstars.

Be careful about running 9005's in the fogs they might start to burn the lens on the housing itself. Its happening in mine, the 9005's run on the highbeam when you install them and put out more heat then the lens can handle
