Trim around Stereo/Door
Trim around Stereo/Door
I am looking to replace the black trim panels around the stereo/HVAC controls as well as the door handle with brushed aluminum panels in my 06 XLT. I have searched hi and freaking lo and can only find those complete kits for $200+ which is fine if I wanted to trim out the entire interior.
Does anyone have an idea of where I could order just these few pieces? I am not really interested in doing any type of painting or decals to acheive the look I want - I want to do this the right way.
Thanks for your help!!!

Sure, I "could" but that just won't do it for me. I am getting to the point of just ordering the full kit so I can pick and choose which pieces I actually put on.
best of luck, here's an idea though, maybe try contacting your insurance company and trying to track down where they send their writoffs.. since i doubt it's to a wreckers (never seen one with brand new trucks/cars) they might be able to help you out.
IDK if the brushed panels come stock though, in which case you'd be out of luck

try searching the forums here, there is a thread where a guy sent his pieces off to a coater. they replicate finishes, sort of like the replica wood on the lariats. think its quite pricey though, so you may be better off ordering a kit and parting it out.
I think the author of the thread has a DSG fx4 ... with black wheels. i forget his user name but hes a frequent poster.
Ill look it up and repost when i get a chance.
I personally took the easy route and had mine PTM. The radio surround, the outter ring on the inside door handles and the bottom trim are all PTM blue, and the window switch area on all four doors is painted in silver metallic just like my two tone. They have a nice shiney clear coat so they stay clean and look super slick.

you kno what i did? i've never painted nothing my whole life. but i didnt want those cheap *** kits for 200 bucks so i googled "how to paint plastic and vinyl pieces" found someone that put step by step. i did it .. and did it with dupli color match paint. sanded and prep everything my self and i tell you what, im a lot more appreciated of my truck and work on it. cost me a couple cans of adhesive, paint, and clear coat. sand paper and a sander. and time. came out great. nobody believes me when i say its autozone paint. haha. but mark my words "its allll in the prep and sanding!!!!"
