Question Window Tint Percentages

Ok, so was wondering about window tint percentages and was hoping some ppl on here could give me some feedback. The percentage of the window tint is the amount of light that is permitted through the film....right? [20% of the outside light is permitted with 20% tint]. so to determine the percentage of layered tint, would you not multiply the percentages in decimal form and then by 100? for example, if you have 5% over 20% this means you were initially allowing in 20% of the tint, then allowed in 5% of the 20% after you put on the second layer. therefore, would you say .05 x .20 x 100 and get the percentage to be 1%?? But thats where it stops making sense to me, the percentage nvr comes out right . So how exactly do you determine window tint with mulitple layers? thanks

5% over 20%? Why dont you just spray bed liner on the windows and call it good?

It can be confusing. The best way to determine 'legal' tint is to look through it on the outside cause thats how cops do it

I have been undecided between 20% & 35% for the fronts but I decided im going to buy a 20% all around kit and install it. I installed a scrap piece of 20% i had laying around just for kicks and to determine how it would look. ITs not bad I think I could get by with it, hopefully.

I have always had 5% on all of my vehicles. On my truck I do not have anything on there yet. Certain states are picky about that stuff though. Not sure if tint would cause me to fail an inspection here in Texas.

I'm close to Blackout. Got him beat on the rear window but not on the front.

35% over 5% on the front windows, 5% over the factory tint on the sides, got him beat on the back! 20% + 5% over factory tint. Nothing on the windshield.

Haha, cuz u cant see thru bedliner haha. And yes 5% over 5% is really dark & pointless. But i had 18% on my truck for a few yrs & it jus wasnt dark enuff anymore so i put 5% on top of that. Its really dark. I was jus wonderin how u actually determine wat percentage the tint is if u have layers. Yea, window tint laws r in every state some states even have a 70% limit. Im not too worried bout it tho. Thanks guys
