Hey gr8hntr........

first off, I think your truck, red and blacked out, looks fantastic ! ....and I'm not really a red truck kind of guy {so this should mean even more to you :-) It looks WAY better than chrome would.

Couple things.... did you do anything to your emblems to prep them ? Wet sandpaper, or scotch bright ? They look great now, but I'd be concerned about them peeling later.

And one suggestion about that Ford emblem..... How about masking it, and hitting it with a thin layer... or two... or three (one at a time, until you get it to where you want it) of clear smoke spray ? You could still read Ford.... but you could tone it down as much as you wanted too.

BTW, my truck will be blacked out too, and since I will be getting an after market black billet grille, I might just experiment with the Ford emblem on my stock grille first.

Anyway, take care of that beauty :-)

Fish

PS, Oh ! And you HAVE to do the headlight surround black out thing..... Whether you just fork out $300 for the Harly lights, or do the "stick them in the oven" trick..... This will look WAY better !

If your not familiar with this, look at Jlstangs lights on the truck in his avatar photo.

Hey man I just read a write up on how to Acetone the Blue Ovals. Its quite simple. The harders step would be making the clear even. If you want i can post the instructions up!

Seemed very easy!

Cool, looking forward to the finished product. I've been planning similar stuff, only in yellow.

Definately different and adding your own style to truck... The exhaust looks good.

But now it just looks like you have plain black badges on your truck. You can't even tell what they are or say. I think it would have looked better if you had put on a few coats of night shade and had them clear coated...

mud, i think he bought overlays for the badges.

So to do the emblems, 600 git, wipedown (prep chemical im assuming) then paint away?

also, a suggestion for you, when you do the fender flares or area that take a beating for that matter, may i suggest Duplicolor truck bed coating? you can get it from autozone for about 9 bucks a can.

here is how it looks when done...
