HID lights

how can i tell if i got HID lights or just blue bulbs?
(the truck is used so i dont know what is what yet)

Follow the wires off of the bulb. If they go into a ballast they're HID's, if not they're halogen's.

just take a pic and most of us can tell just by the pic. I had the just blue 8000k bulb and have seen the HID's its night and day.

just look at the bulb. it will look really weird compared to a halogen bulb

If its bright as **** they are HIDs.

if the bulb is only about as thick as a pencil, then you have HID's

Also, I believe HID's have a 15 second warm-up timer? If the truck's previous owner was a modder like us then theres a probability that it has HID. Most people at least buy new headlights be4 they get HIDs because the 97-04 headlights SUCK.

WHAT?! no...

there is no such thing as a "warm up timer"

think before you type

if the lights flicker briefly they are HID

Actually it takes about 15 seconds before they reach full K in temp. They are on during that time though.

It could be brand also... i've heard it takes 5 minutes before the light actual meets its full kelvin color

Sorry, thats what I meant. I heard somewhere HIDs had 15 seconds to do something and that must be it.
