Thanks for the brilliant answer.

4X4AUTIGER: The cost varies depending on what you want.

1.5" polished domed face badge
6 " length - $38 each
8" length (F-150 tailgate) - $40 each
9.75" length (Super Duty door badges)- $42 each

2.5" x 8.75" domed face standard badge

Polished badge w/ machined text - $45 each
Black powder coated w/ machined text - $49 each

Optional painted text - $15
If you want color or custom designs, it'll cost more.

FX4life: Lets see what you got man! Does it say "Tonka" by chance?

You must have a small tank.

I finally completed my order with Steve at billet badges. I got 2 fender badges, 2 tail gate badges (1 custom made for the right side - Steve's idea), 1 "Ford" emblem badge for the tail gate, and 1 custom-made badge for my Saleen grille. All the badges are powder-coated with DSG painted text. Total shipped was $398. I can not wait to get them - its going to be about 3-4 weeks. I will post pics for you all to see!

Hey about the raised letter badges....

I assume you guys are talking about the 'Ford' oval badges.

The girl at Patriot decals says these letters are not a problem > as long as you stick with 'Ford' lettering. Obviously if it was something like the 'Diver down' symbol, or other lettering, that would be an issue. But even so, I think one could take a small flat file and some sandpaper, and work those letters right down smooth.... and then heck, it wouldn't even have to be perfect... or should I say 'scratch free', as your going to put a decal over it anyway.

As I said in that other thread, I have two Ford ovals (an extra from my grille, which I'm not putting back on) so I'm going to try one without filing / sanding down the letters, and one with, and see how they come out. Heck, as long as I don't get any wrinkles or bubbles, I think the rasied letter one would look better anyway. The key with vinyl decals, is spraying the surface first, with water (or whatever they recomend) so you can do any sliding, adjusting, bubble squeezing, you want to 'first'..... then it dries in a couple days, and its perfect.

Will post my results.

BTW, I think the billet badges are nice.... but I also think that having a badge which is both factory, yet still is personalized, is pretty cool too. As somebody said, it's really apples and oranges.

Peace,
Fish

Whoa !

jimithng, $400 for 5 badges ??? Geeez, like I said before, I think they are nice, but now that I know the price of them, I'll stick to customizing my factory badges with Patriot decals.

Peace,
Fish

Now that sounds more like a tank of gas!

ya, ya, I know...its a lot of dough...but, to me, its worth it and the customization is what I am after...to each his own, right? Also, around my area, I don't think I've seen a single F-150 with custom badges - they could be around but I have never seen them - so its nice to have something unique, ya know?

Hey jimi....

Totally ! Hey man, I spent $390 to have my bumpers powder coated..... even though their were guys on the forum talking about prices like $60 per bumper.

Cali is just so stinking money hungry.... and I wanted my bumper black ! And now they are :-)

Like I say, I think those custom badges will look sweet ! But I think my Patriot decals (in the colors I have chose, on my paint color) are going to look pretty good too :-) ......and I can almost guarantee nobody will have seen this color combo, on my paint color, before :-)

Anxious to see your custom badges....

Peace,
Fish

They actually don't recommend installing them using a wet method. I had to use the wet method as I couldn't line it up using the dry method.

Hey 04f150.....

Who is "they" ? I could have sworn it was the girl at Patriot Decals who told me it was best to use the wet application method to get my ovals lined up, and the air worked out from around the rasied letters.

Also, I know I had several custom decals done in the past, at a pro shop, and they used the wet method.

So anyway, since you used the wet method, how are your decals holding ?

Peace,
Fish
