I love mine. I have to 60" Plasmaglow Fire and Ice model. I've got the reverse lights all hooked up. They work really well at night. They light up everything behind me when I go to back into my garage at night. It's a big head-turner at night and in the day time you can't tell its there until you press the brake lights or use the directionals. Increases safety a lot for those guys in the rice-burners who are so low they cant see your mains.

From a distance of <15 feet, you see the glow of it hiding:

From 15+ feet, (i.e: drivers beind me) you see this:

Soon I'll be switching out my 3rd and my mains for LEDS to match my Fire and Ice.

Thumbs up Two Thumbs Up

I personally love the look of it as well as the additional safety factor. You have to realize tho that no matter what mod you do there will be those that like it and those that dislike it, so I figure that until other guys on this board start making my truck payments, I'm going to do whatever mod on my ride that makes me smile and happy!

BTW, I have the Recon 60' LED Hyperlite which you can see at the link below;

As you can see, my street is pretty much for the most part, pitch black, & these LED's are lightin' things up (along w/my Recon LED 3rd brake light...didn't have anyone to step on the brake tho while I took the pic)...of course the fact I took the pic from only 6 feet away too probably helps, lol, but you get the point!

Whoever told you that must've been to Area-51 or have been abducted by UFO's. It dosen't even come close! I could stick a Fenway Frank in there and not get touched!
