you are aware of the inspection sticker issue we have in MS now right? unless you know someone at the place that does your yearly inspection they are going to put the meter on your tint and wont give you your sticker unless it meets the state set criteria of 35% tint

other states just have to worry about getting tickets for their tint being too dark, Mississippi attempted to make it easier on the cops by making it part of the inspection process for the yearly inspection stickers..

factory tint is between 15-20%, so if you're adding a 15% tint overtop of it you'll be looking at numbers like these
15*.15 = 2.25%
20*.15 = 3%

a 30% film would get you closest to 5%
15*.30 = 4.5%
20*.30 = 6%

yeah i would think that too...roll down windows and pull fuse out for the side windows...

only knew you had to have windsheild in vehicle...not required to have side windows to pass inspection.

drive off put fuse back in.

I got 5% front and back...over the stock rear

Way better than 5% back and 15% ( which I had on superduty )

I ended up just doing 20% on the fronts and it realy matches the rear(stock glass). On my old Ranger I had 2 layers of 5% on the rear and 5% on the front. It was great except for at night, even then the sides were not that bad but the back might as well been painted black, I always had to open the sider to back up to back up. I also had to take the tint off twice on the ranger due to the boys in blue did not like it. So now it's just 20% for me usually wish it was darker but oh well.

I have 20% on the driver and passenger doors, and added the 5% limo-type to the rear two doors and the rear window (which already had privacy glass tint). Works fine, just have to be careful since we're not supposed to tint the doors at all (front ones I mean).

Tint: The law and Safety

I can relate two stories involving tint. I had tinted my 82 Mustang myself and it had turned out great. I was very pleased with it. The only thing was that during the process, I neglected to put that annoying sticker beneath that tint because I saw it as a useless blemish to my perfect tint job. All was fine until I went to get my motorcycle permit. I had to provide a car and driver for the tester to ride in and so my brother was going to drive my Mustang. The first thing the tester did was perform an inspection on my car and you guessed it, got me for not having the sticker. It was immediately remove the tint on the side glass or get a citation and reschedule the test. A VERY hard lesson!

Next story. This same brother had a Ranger with 15% tint. Very dark. I borrowed his truck one day and about 15 minutes after sundown pulled off the interstate to get gas. Although you could still see without lights, the sky had done turned dark blue and the sunset was nothing but a pale orange glow. I got ready to pull off the exit ramp, checked both ways, and pulled out. My butt hole puckered up to the size of a pin hole when the ghostly image of a dark blue Monte Carlo traveling at a quick pace, running without headlights, suddenly materialized through the darkness of that tint. I tromped the gas and just made it into the ditch on the other side as she slid past me in a screech of smoking tires. Needless to say, my heart was thumping and I almost lost the contents of my stomach. Since that time, I have been a fanatic about using headlights in bad weather and after sundown and not going overboard with tint.

Using 5% and risking your life or the lives of others has nothing to do with having the ***** to do it. It just means your thinking with your gonads instead of the grey matter you were born with.

I have 5% all the way around and 35% on the windshield. I guess some states are more strict than others.

Believe me, it wasn't bad judgment, except maybe on the idiot running without lights. The damn car was flat out not visible in the dim light with that dark tint. My wife is bad about that. She had a low slung grey blue Thunderbird that seemed to melt into the asphalt when it started getting dark or when it was pouring rain. She had a truck almost wipe her out head on one night when he pulled out to pass and she was flying low with no lights. Luckily the truck DID have it's lights on and she saw it in time and took the emergency lane. She's so hard headed though it didn't seem to teach her anything. I'm glad her last couple vehicles have had automatic headlights.. lol.
