Window Tinting
Window Tinting
i was goin to put a window tint on my windshield and i was wondering what a good % is that will be dark but not too dark...if anyone has pictures that will help...thanks alot for your help....
most tint shops wont even do a windshield up here... im guessing down in TX they need it more than i do here in MD, but i wouldnt go any darker than 35% and i like my tint DARK. most shops wont even go below 50% because of the hassles their customers get from the police and the overall visibility at night decreases. i'd say max would be 35 and that really is pushing it, but 50 would be a good place to start if your other windows are tinted.
Honestly, if you tint the other windows on your truck even "light" tint will do the trick. Tint works wollectively making it *appear* darker as less ambient light gets in from other locations. If you have "dark" or limo on the rest, even a real light shade will look pretty dark on the windshield.
Ive got 15% over factory glass on front two windows, and 5% over factory smoked glass on rear 3 windows. Its really dark, i love it, but if you back up alot at night, you might think 5% is too dark on the rear glass. I love it at night tho b.c i never have to flip my mirror to the reduce night glare setting.

wrong, law says 25% on front row of side windows. And no tint on front windsheild. *except for 6" strip on top
And back window, and rear side windows can be as dark as you want, and can be painted over if youd like. Think about work vans, that have those decals over the back and rear side windows.........
But if you are pointing out that my front side windows are illegal then yes they are, and i already knew that.

I have 15% on all windows and 35% on my front windshield and it is perfect. There is no visibility problems, even at night. It also reduces a lot of the suns glare. I usually don't even have to wear sunglasses anymore.

I would not go darker than 35% on the front windshield. I had 50% on my expedition, and it worked fine, plus it wasn't obvious the tint was on there, so I never got hassled about it .. 35% on the front would be noticable, and might cause you some issues with the police, since the windshield is not supposed to be tinted at all.
