Cool Anyone install a light under a hard tonneau?

hi all,

i want to install a light underneath of my hard tonneau, so that i can load and unload stuff after dark.

i've been trying to come up with a way to install a light under the lid. i bought a battery operated push light (a bright one, not that cheap one you see on tv) that i'm planning on installing, but cant figure out how to yet. my original plan was to use double-sided tape, but that would cover the batteries, and make changing the batteries an ordeal.

anyone else run into this problem?

any suggestions and/or pics?

thanks..

I also have the ARE lsii lid. I got a light from the hood of a 98 dodge dakota, auto goes on when hood is opened via a ball switch. I mounted it right in the center of my ARE back about a foot from the latch. Screwed it into the plywood reinforce that is there with 3/8" screws or so. I then wired that light into the same lines as the engine hood light on the truck. Reason is, the computer will auto shut off that light if it is on for more than 1/2 hour or so. No worries about draining the battery that way. Works just like the hood, open it, light goes on, close it, light goes off. Also because of this it is now integrated to my alarm systems current sensing. Nice setup. Just got to get the power lock setup and I'll have it whipped.

I srewed my battery operated one into the lid, here in FLA it gets so hot the tape won't work. I like the idea of lrutt, maybe later down the road.

I ordered the latch shroud from ARE for mine. Covers all the hardwre inside. It screws to the lid. I did it with like 1/2" screws. By the time I got through the washer, plastic, and carpet your hardly at 3/8" of an inch. Same with the light. Just use a short screw that will hold. If your nervous use like a 1/4" sheet metal screw. Just use your judgement. I was kind of nervous also when I did it first time but those lids are thicker than you think.

screwed into the lid, huh??

i'm a little nervous about doing that.. exactly how thick is it?? i noticed that the raised portion of the lid was thicker, but not knowing how thick, i did not just want to start drilling..
