I have the Ford deflector on mine. It looks excellect and does not move. The dealer said the sprayed it Black on the underside - not sure if that was smoke or it was black to start with. Anyway it matches my black truck perfectly and I would recommend it.

Thumbs up

I have the lund interceptor hood shield on my truck. I put it on the day I brought it home. It contours the hood perfectly, although it is not close to the hood. Easy to wash and wax behind. I did have to drill holes, but I had one on my '93 Ranger with no problems. I'm very happy with it. Cost around $40.00. Also no annoying little rubber nubs to stick to the hood like I had on my Ranger (they would fall off when you closed the hood in the winter).

I currently have Profile Plus and I like it execpt, boy is it a "bear" to wash/wax under! Has any one tried these Stainless Steel Hood Sheilds pictured in "other aftermarket" or do I have to be the "guinea pig" Its o.k. I'm used to it, I like being first. Made by Better Built: "easy to install, custom fit, won't chip crack or fade. Doesn't trap water or debris between sheild and hood." At least that's what THEY say.
they are at: www.cabelas.com for $99.00

Cool

>>>>I have the LUND Interceptor also, very rigid, easy to clean behind, and no vibrations. Its matches the contour of the hood and fenders, looks great. You do have to drill, which I like, I have never been a big fan of tape. Especially on an item that might be tugged on when closing the hood.

Well as promised, here is a review of my recently installed bug guard. As stated before it is a Ford bug guard. All and all I'm very impressed. It looks great on my truck. I originally was very hesitant to get a bug guard because I don't like their appearance. But this one I like. Quick and easy installation, just ten minutes and a screwdriver is all you need. Another surprise, it is not visible from inside the cabin unless I sit up and lean forward.

So basically I like my Ford wraparound bug guard. Final cost, $52.

Now see, I hate this stuff. I liked the Ford bug deflector but when I priced it I was quoted $97. I got the Bugflector II, $39.95, a couple of drilled holes and it looks great.

I just installed a Ford bug deflector on my truck. It was super easy to install and it looks great. It's out far enough from the hood so that nothing gets caught between the hood and deflector. I looked at Lund, Profile 2, EGR, and a couple of others before I decided on this one. I think it looks the best and is definetly worth the money.

Indyfan, I'm sorry your Ford dealer wanted to rip you off like that. Each Ford dealer charges different amounts for the parts, there is no uniform price. There is a MSRP, but many dealers ignore it. For example, on the Ford bug guard the MSRP is $77. My Ford dealer (Jim Burke Ford in Bakersfield CA.) charges $65. Plus, because I bought my truck from them, I get an extra 20% off all parts. So the final price is $52 + tax.

Thanks everyone

I ended up buying the GTS. It was the screw on type with no drilling and there was plenty of room to get to underneath to wash and wax.

I bought a clear MPG Wraparound for my Red
99.5 Lighting. I had the local ford dealership color match and clearcoat it. I had both side painted with the front side
clear coated. It looks excellent on the truck
with that clearcoat shine on the front. It cost me 79.00 for bugshield & 45.00 for Ford
to paint & clearcoat it.

Later,
Terry

Thumbs down

If all these bug deflectors are designed for the F150 why don't they line up the holes with the factories?
I mean come on if they went through all the trouble to measure the hood and figure out the clearences and stuff just line up the holes you idiots.

Angry

I have a Ford FH47-01 bug shield on my 2000 150 and its starting to scuff the paint on the top of the grill (both sides of the latch)I suspect any small amount of dirt or sand will set up a problem. I had a similar problem with the Profile Deflector on the 98 150 and bought a strip of velcro (soft stuff, not sure if they call that hook or loop)and placed that on the grill top - looks like that's needed on the Ford delector also. Keep your eyes open for scuffing before it gets to bare plastic if you like showing your truck with the hood open).
