Outdoors, You could also check into installing an aftermarket unit. I've got an Autometer tach. and gauge pod. The pod is a molded tach. housing which attaches to your A-pillar. Check out www.autometer.com

Me and my father are making a digital tach for my truck. It is going to mount in an autometer guage pod that attaches to the a pilar. It has a sweep of 50 LED's and a 2 digit read out, plus a shift light, and indoor and outdoor temperatures. We have started assemblely and i will post pics when i get them up.

Damnit!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry for the language, but it makes me so mad that ford changed their ignition after 98 and I can't get my tach installed for the life of me. I drive a 2000, and it just won't work. Some place wants to charge me $95 to install it. Yea right

Split, My Autometer is tapped into a wire coming out of the computer and not the ignition. Is this type of install possible on your truck?

I have heard that it is a direct plug in behind the instrument cluster for the ones with and without tachs.

See Roden, Ford must have changed their computer wire harness also. The reason I say this is because I have read a ton of posts and the white/pink wire that comes from the 48th pin on the harness was stopped from 99 on. Oh well... I mean I can get it done but I don't really wanna have some auto electric shop charge me more for the labor then the actually tach itself.

Advise from anyone??? Please!

Cool

here is what the display looks like on the tach me and my father are making. We have been testing it and are starting work on the power supply for it.
