Cool

Good to see that I'm not the only one with a budget. I'm 26 years old and in a budget big time, I have a silver Expedition that I'm working on and so far I've put on the clear corners, Clear w/red rear lights, billet grill, and bigger chrome tail pipe! So far it looks sweet. The clears with silver really go good. I just ordered the Special Edition 10 piece fender flare set from www.autoaccessory.com and am getting them painted Oxford White to match the look I saw on a silver Navigator. All I really need to do is change the wheels, thats where the big money is. I don't mind some of the 16/17" stock chromes cuzz the stocks I have are plain ugly. Anybody know where you can find cheap stocks? Oh and I just wanted to say this site is amazing, I'm a newbie here!!

Welcome to the site!! You will find a wealth of information here, everything that you can imagine. I have been on for a couple of months and I still find new and useful stuff daily. I like the fender kit you ordered, I might have to add it to my "wish list." Again, welcome and we hope to hear more about your mods in the future. By the way, I am also 26 and just getting started in my career, money is tight but my dreams are big.

These can be ordered from your local dealer. Your local parts counter guy may not know about them and tell you that they aren't available if he doesn't look them up, so make sure that he looks them up. Also, I'm not sure that they are plastic, but maybe they are. They are sure heavy to be made of plastic if they are plastic. Still, I wouldn't suggest trying to scrape the paint off of them. Some other people here have removed the paint with tape, I think. They were masking off the emblem to paint them and when the tape was removed the black came off as well. I don't know how you would actually go about doing this, it doesn't seem that the black would come off of mine by doing that.

<edit> I just stole this from Darin's How-To for adding side marker lights to your truck. Apparently, the side markers ARE plastic, but the face is chromed and plated copper. He also says that the emblems on 97 and 98 trucks have the black paint "baked" on, so it cannot be removed. The newer emblems can have the black paint removed with 100% acetone (finger nail polish). These emblems can be purchased at the local dealership as well.</edit>

No offense but putting logos on your truck that to make it reflect something that it is not is bad taste. It reminds me of the rice boys that put "VTech" stickers all over their Hondas and Acuras when they don't have a VTech engine. My opinion...leave the Interceptor logos where they belong.

truckin,
No offense but the front grill emblem and mirror set up in the cab in your truck is very tacky and lowriderish, and the chrome fender flares wouldnt be caught dead on my truck, and that 7.95 Ford antenna really put a touch of class to your rig..but no offense..

I have been on this site for awhile now and unless I can say something nice about a truck I dont say anything, but I had to evaluate your truck since you feel it is your place to do so to mine. I like my truck the way it is, I could careless if you dont, I have built it to my likes not yours..but no offense taken, I just wanted to give you some of your own medicine...No offense though....Dave

and I dont plan to change anything...except add strobes (I am sure I should leave those off to)

Oh and I forgot, V-Tech like the rice boys, to make it look like something its not?? Your truck isnt a 4x4 is it? But you lifted it to look like one...? Kind of two faced statement isnt it.....I like the lifted look and thats the reason I lifted mine, I dont tell anyone any different. By the way the only difference between the police interceptor and my truck is one of them is a Crown Vic..same motor/trans...I am not trying to be deceptive to anyone, if they ask I tell them why I did it...as a joke, but I do get alot of compliments on the Interceptor badges whether you like them or not...Some of my police officer budies have even done it to there personal vehicles..Its all in fun........Dave Dont pick on my baby...!!

Truckin4,

Seeing as DAVENSA IS A COP, his emblems don't seem too out of place to me.

FWIW, I kinda like the Interceptor badges...my best buddy is a bicycle cop, and stuck one on his department issued Trek...

DAVENSA,
I too have the "Police Interceptor" emblems on my '00 F150 (only under the F150, not above it). I saw one about a year ago on the back of a Crown Vic and had to have a pair. I finally got around to putting them on my '00 after trading in the '99 I had. Rest of your truck is pretty nice too!!! Doc
