I've seen them in StylinConcepts catalogs for around$130. You can go to the site and see it.

Robin,
I've had the speed grill for about a month just sitting in the garage trying to figure out how to install it from those damn directions they sent. So what part of the stock grill do you cut out? A little help would be kind...fill me in on how you did it...please.

Hi Cableguy:

I placed my speed grill over the existing grill of my truck using the clips that were supplied with the grill. I did not have to cut out the old grill but in order to install it, you must remove the old grill assembly to install the new one. I hope this helps. Good luck.

PS: Follow the instructions closely. It took me 20 minutes to install it.

also dose it hurt the amount of air going in to the truck?

thanks!

Cableguy (long time no see), I ordered the SpeedGrill for my 98 4x2 XLT (chrome grill surround). Was really looking forward to installing it. I read the instructions, scratched my head for a while and then decided that I'd just figure it out as I went along.

As it turns out, Street Scenes doesn't have a speed grill for my style grill. The opening for a chrome-style surround is completely different than on a 4x4 body-color surround. The shop I bought mine through and Street Scenes' tech department were on the phone for quite a while before they figured out that it just wasn't going to fit. Damn!

Back to the drawing board...

Make sure the grill insert you have actually fits the opening before you go any further.

Robin,

Did you have the honeycomb grill or the bar type originally? Can you see the stock grill through the cover? Thanks

Robin; When you removed the center grill assembly, I noticed that the Speed Grill even covers the outside ring of the grill. Am I halucinating this image, or do these clips secure it over the entire grill including the outside ring? Also, any hints on how to remove the grill assembly without breaking any factory tabs off? If this is that easy, I'll be ordering one and having it chromed to match my chrome lightning wheels. Thanks!

I have a 97 xl, which came with the chrome grille surround. I purchased my speed grille in 1999 at the Sport Truck Nats in Ky. The Stylin dealer told me that it would fit, I specifically told them that my grille was different from the xlt and lariat grilles. They said, it will be fine, it will fit. No, it didnt fit, but I bought the painted grille surround for it and it looks great, I purchased a billet ford emblem for it because I wasnt sure if the other one would come off, but I went ahead and installed it, it also looks awesome. I also purchased a bumper grille insert for my 4wd bumper that I installed on my 2wd, again they sent me the wrong grille, they sent the 2wd grille, but after I had everything back, it looks awesome, I am totally pleased with the product, but the service lacks.

Ford6man;

I did not remove the center grill. The speed grill install right over it on the inside of the ring with clips ,however you need to remove the whole front cow to install it.The clips attach from the inside. The truck came with the argent grill.I can scan the instructions and E-mail them to you if you like give me your e-mail address

Robin; Thanks for the prompt reply! When you mentioned that you need to remove the whole front cow, did you mean the whole grill shell assembly so one can access the back side to install the clips? Too bad that it covers the outside ring of the stock center piece, it makes a nice accent to the other trim pieces. You can E-mail me @ ford6mann@aol.com. Thanks again.

I have the Street Scene Speed grille for the main and the bumper. The bumper was not problem. The main grille required that I cut, file or grind .25 into the shell so the clips would grabe the grille from the back. Looks awesome will post pics when I take some.
