Thumbs up Air Dam for Y2K

Installed a very nice airdam that is made by Truck Masters Design. Made of ABS Plastic and was very impressed as to how clean it was and how well it fit. Even came complete with lights and wiring.
Put some pictures up on the web showing the Air Dam at:

No the airdam did not come painted, had that done here in Elkhart. Mine came out of PA and cost $246.00 plus $20.00 shipping.
Check out their web page at: http://www.truckmasterdesigns.com
They list alot of the places that sell their airdams.
Very easy install, fits great no holes to drill, just mounts to the bumper with the nuts and bolts that come with it.

Thanks for the info. That is a very classy-looking part. If I decide to go ahead and make the change, I'm sure that's the one I want.

Mine cost me $60.00 to have the airdam painted. That was 2 coats of paint and 2 coats of clear. Do make sure that whoever paints it that they do put clear on it. I understand that without it you may not have a color match.

Very nice, bbailey. VERY, very nice.

Did you have the top part of your bumper painted, also?

No Shifter I purchased the bumper cap (top part of bumper) for the Ford dealer. Can be ordered in the matching color of your truck. The fellow that did my painting told me that I may have a problem getting the paint to stick correctly to the BLACK cap that came with the truck. Also the black one has a texture to it, not smooth like the painted one. Cost form the dealer was $110.00.

Wow! What a smart idea, bbailey! The painted bumper cap goes very well with the new airdam and the engine hood. Everything about the look ties together so nice.

Was the bumper cap hard to replace? Did you do it yourself?

Shifter, no it was not hard to replace the bumper cap. On my 2000 F-150 it was held on with plastic fasterners. Just pull the little round part of it out and then remove the fasterner. The bumper cap has four tabs on it and you should take care when installing the new one, they don't appear to be very strong and I don't think it would take much to break them. After you have the new in place put the put the fastners in and press the center part back in. I would guess it took me about 20 min. to put it on.
