Post 4x4 Bumper on 2wd

I have noticed that the 97-99 4x4 front bumper is 8-9 inches of steel while my 2000 2wd has only about 3-4 inches of steel. The rest is plastic. Does anyone know if the 4x4 fron bumper will fit on a 2wd?

The '97-'98 bumpers are the thicker design for both the 2wd and 4wd designs (differ between, but similar style) and the '99-'00 bumpers are the same for the 2wd and 4wd, differing only w/ the lower valence and of course painted/chrome differences! Doc
