Question Engine compartment

I used about 35' of loom. Now my question is should I paint the plastic gold to match the body color, yellow to match loom or leave it black?

Yes that is a 97 intake cover on a 99 I like the emblem better then the 99.

WOW, that looks sharp. I would leave it the way it is. To much yellow may be an over kill. Looks great the way it is!!!!

Cool

I got the loom at the Carlise truck show but JC whitney sells it in 4 different sizes. I just saw an article in the latest street truck for colored hoses.

Congrats Steve and Melissa.

If I had an engine compartment that looked that nice, I think I'd have a Lexan hood molded for the truck.

I've found that Clean Shower works great for preventing streaks after cleaning.

Works well on motorcycle engines too.

Leave your other components black, all of your present colors contrast nicely with each other....

the only thing i would paint gold would be that protective black plastic right at the nose of the hood. Otherwise the contrast looks great on all the black parts

**congrats on keepin it so clean under there, mines a mess!**

I know this is a dumb question, but with all the new electronics on today's engines, is it ok to simply "hose out" the engine compartment to clean off the road grime, etc.?

Cool

I even use soap in mine, then dry off the large items and use a protective spray. The engine gets wet when you drive in the rain. Just be careful not to disconnect any wires with your sponge and everything should be fine. Now powerwashing is a different story the spray is so strong that you could get it in the wrong places. Just use a garden hose and some soap.

Thanks! It's been getting pretty dirty and I've been wanting to clean it up.

Firezap - Nice, very nice....

Don't know if it will help you decide or not but this is my underhood that I'm still working on. It might help you visualize...

By the way - I've found that after power-washing the underhood, wiping the large areas with a damp terrycloth towel works very well. I mix a little 'Simple Green' into a bucket of warm water. No rinsing needed.
