Question Which bug deflector Ford or Aftermarket?

Which bug deflector would you recommend going with. The original Ford one that sells for about $65 (wrap around). Or go with an after market one like AutoVent Shade, GTS, or etc..
Any specific brand I should stay away from?
Is screwing it on better then using the 3m auto tape? Thanks...

Personally, they all look the same to me. I don't believe any of them do a real good job of keeping bugs off the windshield, just the leading edge of the hood. And they do look cool! My MPC brand is neither screw on or 3M tape. It uses a rectangular plate that fits up inside the large square holes under the front edge of the hood. The plate swivels 90 degrees and is snugged down by a nut. Does a great job of keeping it tight without tape of holes. Unfortunately, it uses those little clear plastic "dot" bumpers and pads to keep it from rubbing your paint.

I finally went with EGR 3D Carbon Fiber. It's contoured and actually extends over front quarter panels. It's low profile and cannot be seen over the hood from driver's seat. And most important to me....it's naked, i.e. no logo like GTS, PrimeDesign, etc. It screws on under hood using four existing holes. Sits off hood to allow easy cleaning underneath.

Other planned mods: hard tonneau cover, K&N filter, Husky floor liners, speaker upgrades, Longhorn hitch cover, etc., etc., etc.

I've got a Lund Interceptor on mine. Screws into existing holes under the hood and sits off the hood for easy cleaning and won't mar the paint job

Cool

Just like 2000Lariat, I installed a Lund Interceptor. Mine is smoke colored. I love the fact that it is guaranteed for the life of the truck.

I looked at every bug sheild and the one I likes the most was the GTS (everyone thinks it's called GTO) Bug Gaurd SE. It fits the contours of the hood really good and my truck is black so I can hardly see it. Looks great. I really like it because its not really bulky looking like most of them.

Thumbs up

This is a Bugflector II (in clear) painted to match the truck.

Doesn't really clutter up the front of the truck. A word of caution though, put the little rubber bumpers ON TOP of the grill surround where the deflector WILL contact the paint. Otherwise it rubs the paint. It's about $32 from Discount Auto. BTW, drop the Chalupa!

I bought the new Lund Trident bugshield for my SuperCrew. It was ~$75 at GI Joes. Supposedly it's stronger than Lund's other bugshields.

There's no drilling or adhesive pads to attach to your hood. It stands off the hood and allows you to easily clean behind it.

Click on the link in my signature to see pictures of my SuperCrew...I'll post some other closeups soon.

I've had my interceptor replaced from my ranger three or four times, free of charge. Even when I traded off the ranger it was cracked and I traded it for one to fit the F-150. I bought it at an RV place and they look at it, order one, then replace it so I'm not without a shield.

Question

Does someone know if the Lund Interceptor made for 1997-1999 vehicles fits a 2000? Their web site does not list 2000 F150's for the interceptor but I don't think anything has changed. Thanks
