Cool Double sided tape for F-150 emblems ?

I have removed all my F-150 emblems and in the process of painting them to match my truck. Where can I buy some good quality double face tape? I don't want these emblems flying off the truck. Thanks

Hey Franks & Beans:
You want the 3M double sided body moulding tape. You can get it at NAPA. By the way, "How'd he get the beans on top of the frank?"

I also saw the 3M tape mentioned above at Wal-mart this week, if NAPA isn't convenient. It was near the auto painting supplies.

Thumbs up

Franks,
I know you can get the 3m tape at any auto parts store. But what you need to be careful of is the paining part, I painted mine and stripped all of the paint off in the process. Thank god they look pretty cool! Everyone around here thinks they are Polished Billet!

Cool

FORDTRK,
Not yet! I just finished painting/
clearcoating one last night and it looks
~ S W E E T ~ I did notice that the paint is darker than my truck paint. Hmmmmm.. The shop took the paint code from the door, going to stop in after work to complain. When I do get them installed I will post a pic.

Cool

FORDTRK,
Ok here is the painted F-150 emblem.

But I also like the look of this one too like yours. This is from Goldies Truck. I am undecided on how I want the side emblems.

Talking

I don't have a closeup yet, but here's a pic of my painted to match emblems.

Look for close ups here: http://home.earthlink.net/~mikej27/f150

FORDTRK,
How'd you strip the paint from your emblems?

MJ

Thumbs up

I actually DID whittle a nice pair of emblems out of a 1/2 inch thick chunk of 6061 aluminum. The letters are 1/4 inch deep, with a 1/4 inch "base" under them. They look GREAT on my truck, but the cheapo camera I own would not focus. It seems reflective surfaces don't let the camera get its depth of field correctly. I'll get a good shot & post soon, I'm really happy how they turned out. The pair of emblems took about four hours to finish, I just did every cut using a 1/4 inch end mill, and swung the curve of the "5" (in f-150)using a rotary table.
They're finished with 400 grit, then clearcoated, not polished.(I HATE polishing!)
Under the "f-150", I left a slab of aluminum, and stuck "Ford Motorsport" teenie stickers on the corners. Very cool.
Now, it's been pointed out to me that I need to make ANOTHER one for the tailgate. OOOPS! forgot THAT one!
And, yesssss.... the aluminum ones are stuck using 3M tape.

Fordtrk-

How did you strip the black off? Solvent? I may try to paint mine if I know the worst thing that may happen is a all chrome badge.
