Expedition Console Pictures
Here are the pictures of the center console I got from LWM. It was pretty easy to install and turned out great!

BlueFlareside: Looks GREAT! I just put the center console in my truck yesterday (Oklahoma is 2 1/2 hours north, so I went there to pick it up). I have some cautions for those considering this installation. My truck is a 1999 and the console I got was for a 2000 Expedition, but I don't think there is an appreciable difference.
1) The Expedition console glovebox area is taller than the console that comes standard on the pickup. It will render your armrests fairly useless, or at least VERY difficult to use. The flip side of this is that the console itself is a much better armrest than the ones attached to captain's chairs. Don't try to remove those armrests. They are attached with a large spline bolt and cable, and it leaves a gaping hole on the side of the seat. I leave mine in the stowed (up) position.
2) The bracketing does not fit precisely. In fact, mine just sits in between the seats and it isn't attached to anything (it is just sort of stuffed in between the seats). The brackets that come with the Expy console do bolt to the studs that are on the tunnel of the pickup, but you must cut or drill some holes to clear those bolts in order to slide the clip mechanism in place. On the front, the bracket simply isn't long enough to reach the mounting holes in the console. I have a machine shop and design software available at work, and I am considering designing brackets that will work...in my spare time (what's THAT???). IF I do it, I'll let everyone know and if you want, I'll email you measurements so you can have some made. For what it's worth, it is a very tight fit, and the console just as it is isn't going to move, so I'm not too worried.
Having said that, I will also say that I am VERY pleased with my console. It looks great, holds more stuff than the old one, and really completes the interior. And it's an absolute steal at $90+tax (you can probably expect to pay $400+ from Ford, and they aren't sold as an assmebly...you'd have to order all the pieces, clips, screws, etc.). When I was at the place, I talked to the guy and he said they have shipped out about 2 dozen consoles, so if you're considering it, I'd jump on it now (he is especially short on gray consoles).
Hope this helps out!

Indigo,
Sounds like I am lucky to get a '98 console. All I had to do was cut away some of the back plate that attaches to the console because it interfered with the back bolts and I was done.
Let us know how it turns out.

Indigo, I installed a '99 console in my '97. All I did was take out the back studs, went to true value with the nut from the back studs(back studs are bigger than front so make sure you take the back stud nut)and got two bolts that fit it. I put the back bracket on with the new bolts and the front brackets on with the existing stud/bolts. Then I just slid the bad boy into place. It still takes some pushing into place but it fit perfect. I did find out why the newer consoles sit up from the floor in the front. Ford redesigned the floor pan around the front tranny hump. The new floor pan is slightly bigger, thus the console sitting up.
Sorry, it's not the truck center hump they redesigned. The Expy center hump is bigger. They used the Expy floor pan in the new Super Crew. That's where I saw the bigger hump. That's also why the console sits up a little bit.
Thanks red. I'm not sure what I'm gonna do yet. As I said, it works just fine now, so I may leave it be, but most likely I'll either go your route with new bolts, or just take the plate off the console to my machine shop and have them cut a few slots out. I can get it done free, so why not? *grin*
As for the front bracket...that one is definitely a re-work. I don't know if it's worth it though. Knowing me I'll start playing one day and make up my mind to do it. I did put one console next to the other, and the Expy is definitely taller by a few inches, so that plus the center hump redesign you were talking about runs it right into the armrests. Oh well...still really happy with it though!

Man, that console looks great. Unfortunately, I have bench seats. Does anyone know if there's a quality console (like shown above) that is made to fit on the floor in the short space between bench seats and the lower dash?

Just to let everyone know this console is a direct fit in an f150. If you remove the studs in the floor. And use bolts to bolt the brackets to the floor(the new brackets from an expedition) this unit will fit perfectly. Since I put mine in at night and opted not to change the studs I had to cut the front bracket to clear the studs. And then I cut the lower mounts ( plastic columns) so they would clear the studs. Then I was able to slide the back clip into its proper place and then installed the screws on the sides which hold it firmly in place.
One thing I did not like is that mine came without the earphone jack in the back so now there is a 3x3 hole in the back that you can see into the console. Will make something to cover up the hole

moose-man,
I do not know where can get a console for a bench seat. There are plently of aftermarket shops (conversion shops) who make speacial consoles for trucks and vans.

I have a 99 FI%) and would love to add and Expy console. Will a 99 Expy console fit? If I buy it from LWM will they supply all the hardware? What about the Powerpoint on the back of the console?
Jeff_Gallo,
Read Indigo's post above about his '99. I think you may be better off getting a '98 but it is two-toned in color (like my pictures). Did they change to a monotone interior in '99? I don't remember. I know the 2000 models have a monotone interior with just a little darker color on the doors.
LWM will supply the brackets to attach to the floor bolts but nothing else. I did not get the power plug wiring or the rear radio controls (there is a hole in the back where they were). Nobody rides back there too often so I really did not care about either of them.
Give LWM a call and see what they have left. Go to this link for more answered questions and LWM's info https://www.f150online.com/f150board...ML/000304.html

Your modifications sound GREAT!!!
Since I have a SD with Captain's Chairs in front, I was wondering if the Excursion has a console similar to the Expedition that would fit into my SD. What I have now is just a BIG bin between the seats. Nothing that extends toward the lower dash.
I haven't seen the interior of an Excursion, so I don't know if they have such a console.
Anybody out there know?????
