Adding foglights to an STX bumper?
Hello,
I have a 1998 F150 XLT with the STX package. The bumper does not have any plastic on it so I can not add a valance with holes for foglights. I also have a billet insert in the space in the bumper. What I have done is bolted some angel iron together and connected some driving lights to it behind the billet insert, but they are not bright enough. The billet insert may be just blocking too much light.
Anyway, what I want to know is, is there a better way someone here as figured out that would let me have more lighting and keep the billet insert in the bumper? Is it really blocking a lot of light? I do know that driving lights I have are pretty cheep so I am not really sure of how bright a good brand would be.
BTW, I am about to order the Superwhite headlights from Sportsbikes.net because I saw lots of people on here that liked them, I hope I will too.
Thanks for any help
Joe

You could get a new lower for the bumper that has cutouts for foglights. Not sure who makes them, but I have seen them in the back of all sorts of truck magazines. Basically just a plastic paintable new lower for the bumper.

hey, i also have an STX with the billet bumper insert and have thought about adding lights behind the insert; however, i figured the insert would block to much light. as far as what vocaire is talking about, i like the stillen lower valance the best. i have also considered this, but am getting a body lift, so i don't know if it would work because i don't want to have to cut it. best of luck . . .

Thanks for repling to my post. The problem is, I do not have a lower plastic part. The entire bumper is metal. Am I misunderstanding what you are saying? Do you mean that there is a piece that can be attached to the bumper itself?
Thanks again
Joe
Thanks again

Either you are missing a piece of your bumper, or the lower has just been painted. Are you the original owner of the truck? Because all of the current body style F150's have had a piece of plastic below the bumper. It is just bigger on the 99-01's.

Ok, I feel really stupid now.
I forgot about the strip across the bottom. I guess I see all the newer bumpers that are half metal and half plastic. Mine has a small strip compaired to them on the bottom. HA, I completely for got about that.
Thanks again
Joe
