Bulbs Sold by WhiteKnight
I tried to post this down below as a follow up to "Who is White Knight" but for some reason the thread is closed - and I'm sure a lot of people have comments on this subject. As you can see from the post below, White Knight has been Masquerading on this board, pretending to be a third party who bought his superwhite bulbs from Fred Folkerts at Sportbikes.net. - when indeed WhiteKnight is Fred Folkerts! I ordered superwhite bulbs last week from Fred after e-mailing him several times and posting here on the board - of course WhiteKnight replied to my post saying that the bulbs from Sportbikes.net were the best. I received my bulbs today and they are the Xenon Gas bulbs with blue tint on the outside. I haven't installed them yet, but I'm pretty pissed since WhiteKnight posted on September 7, 1999 that the Xenon bulbs with the blue tint suck, but the Krypton bulbs are much brighter. He even said he got pulled over for having the Krypton bulbs and that his girlfriend got the Max Superwhites which were much better (probably what he was selling at that time).
WhiteKnight changed his posts recently - saying that the Xenon and the Krypton were the same - probably because he only has the Xenon for sale now.
Like I said, I haven't installed the bulbs yet, but I'm guessing that they aren't as good as WhiteKnight says they are. I thought everyone on this board should be aware of this - it's easy to get snookered when doing business on the internet - at least I'm only out $34.

JTray,
You should'nt be out anything!. If you purchase a product and it is not what it was described as. Ask for a full refund including shipping. If the merchant refuses, and you paid for it with Visa, call Visa and explain to them what happened. More than likely Visa will reverse the charges.

First of all I am not Fred Folkerts. I am Cliff Folkerts. Fred's Younger brother. Yes I am do promote his bulbs since I have the bulbs in my truck. As far as the Xenon and Krypton gas they are the same gas. If you read his web page it tells you everything about the bulbs. The bulbs that I had in my girlfriends car where the blue IONS. These have a blue cast and are illegal.
I am sorry for the confussion. And I hope this helps you out. Put the bulbs in I am sure your going to be happy.

And also. To comply with this webpages rules I will not say anything else about these bulbs. I have been a member on this message board a long time and would like to remain that way.
Jtray,
If you are really that upset. Send Fred a email and let him know. I am sure he is willing to work with you. But I suggest installing the bulbs first and taking a look for yourself before you go around bad mouthing someone for information that you dont have straight.
Webmaster,
I understand the rules and I will make sure I dont send anymore users from this forum to Sportbikes.net
Hope this clears everything up.

WhiteKnight - If indeed you are Fred's brother - my sincerest apologies to both you and Fred. But, even if you are his brother you shouldn't have made posts without identifying that fact - you aren't as unbiased as you made yourself appear, whether you are Fred's brother or whether you actually are Fred - and I'm not sure what I believe. Again - sorry for stirring up a hornets nest - and I'll still post tomorrow about the bulbs. For both of our sake I hope they are what you said they would be.
jtray,
I understand where you are comming from. I am sorry for the confusion. I will ask Fred to refund your money on your bulbs since it wasnt fair for me to give a opinion.
But I would also like to add that I am very happy with these bulbs and that is why i recommended them.
Sorry about that jtray. Hope everything works out for you.

No problem, White Knight - all is forgiven - the bulbs are SUPER! I installed them yesterday afternoon and left one of the factory bulbs in to compare the difference. The superwhite bulbs are very close to the Xenon HID headlights in my wife's BMW 323i. They are definitely in the same spectrum of white. Not only do they look great, but they cast a cool whitish blue beam in front of the truck, just like my wife's car. They were perfectly balanced - no need to adjust the headlights. I was incredibly impressed and felt very guilty for bashing White Knight and Fred Folkerts before I tried them - my sincerest apoligies guys. I hope Fred will let me buy another set when I install my fog lights.

Is it true that the bulbs with the blue tint like the ones you got Jtray that the blue tint will eventually wear off or something like that. I have heard somewhere on here that that will happen. Also how do the headlights look when you look at them Jtray? Do they have any kind of amber look to them with the blue mixed in? I am looking to get some superwhite lights but I am very particular at what I get and how it looks. Do you know if you were unsatisfied with the lights that sportbikes would take them back as sort of a gaurantee? I wish you lived in Dallas where I could see them first hand.

I don't know if the tint will wear off or not - it's imbedded into the glass - not a coating, so I doubt it - it looks like pale blue glass. There is no amber color at all - it's pure white light - it gives off a slight bluish color. You can really see the difference by leaving one of the factory bulbs in. Fred at Sportbikes.net sent me a personal e-mail yesterday saying he would take the bulbs back and refund my money if I wasn't happy for any reason - and that was pretty kind of him after the remarks I made above. I wish I lived in Dallas also - I've visited twice and have never seen so many beautiful and charming women in my entire life. Oh - and you could see the bulbs too.

Does anyone know some more about the legality of these bulbs, SPECIFICALLY in FLORIDA? I'm interested in getting one of these, but I don't want to get a ticket.
Thanks.

Big Mac,
Look for bulbs that meet the DOT requirment of White Light.
There are very few states that have bulb restrictions. Mostly it is against red and blue color. Since all states are different The bulbs on sportbikes.net say "For off road use only". The company is protecting themselves basically.
The best way to find out is call your local PD. But, you can also find out information about a certian brand of bulb buy asking around on what they look like. This will give you a general idea if it would be illegal in your state.

I've read where the blue-ish lights are actually LESS bright than the super white types. They just throw out a blue tint making them look cool and thus diminishing the lumen output. Is this true, or just another product slam?
I want to buy a brighter lamp, but still confused.

F-250 nut - I believe you are correct about the cheap blue coated bulbs - the ones that I bought from Fred@sportbikes.net have a blue tint to them, but it's IN THE GLASS - not coated. They are much brighter than the stock bulbs - and they project a bluish white beam that looks really good from inside the truck and out. I've seen other cars driving around with blue lights that are very dim - but the ones I have are much brighter and still have the slightest hint of blue in the beam. My parents live on Tapps Island - if I get up to Auburn some time soon in my truck I'll e-mail you and maybe you can take a look at them if you haven't bought a set yet. Good Luck.
