MPC Bug Deflector--BAD!
I bought a full wrap smoked MPC deflector right after I got my truck around this past Christmas. Looks good on my white paint, but had not taken it on the road until this week when I went to the beach at Galveston.
Came home with a zillion bugs all over the windshield, even down low around the wipers!
The side mirrors were covered also. I had been told that the full wrap deflector would protect the side mirrors. This product sucks!

Kennster,
Drive a while without it and see how many bugs ya get. I've got the "Bugflector II". Seems to work pretty well, compared to without it. Window still gets bugs, as does the mirrors.
Good Luck!

I think they are actually designed more to protect the leading edge of the hood from chips and stuff. They are more for looks that function.

I think the problem with my brand of deflector is the design. It does not affect the airflow like it should. Other folks with different designs say they hardly get any bugs. I just picked the wrong brand, though, as it was said, it does protect the leading edge of the hood.
Hey Kenster,
I agree with you on the MPC bug deflector. I had a bug deflector on my last Ford pickup and although it wasn't as aerodynamic as this one, it sure kept the critters off the windshield. If you find one that does the job, please let us know the brand. I'll do the same if I locate one.

Most "bug deflectors" do nothing to deflect the bugs from hitting the windshield and even less for the mirrors. I was the designer for the Ford OEM shield, and it was not designed to deflect bugs. Ford refers to their shield as a "HOOD deflector". It is intended to protect the front of the hood from chips. Only the old style vertical non-formed shields would really deflect bugs. I am not saying that all deflectors do not work on the bugs.

Kenster,
Don't listen to the mumbojumbo going here. Go get a Bugflector II. It does the job.
