Superwhite bulbs
I've reviewed all the threads on this issue on this website and there were several references to "Sportbikes.net" regarding the superwhite bulbs and the differences between Krypton gas and Xenon gas. My question is: Are the bulbs sold by the online store for $52.95 the same bulbs sold by sportbikes.net for $40? I've seen some posts from people satisfied with the bulbs from the online store, and some posts from people who claim they suck. If Roger reads this, could you please clear this issue up - are there 2 types of bulbs available on the online store? Thanks for the help.

White Knight - where did you buy your bulbs? I sent an e-mail earlier to Fred at Sportbikes.net and he responded a few minutes ago - he also said there was no difference between Krypton gas and Xenon gas - he claims his generation 3 bulbs at $40 for a pair are as bright as replacements as you can get today and don't have the cheap blue coating like some. I'm going to order a pair from him and I'll follow up after I install them.

I have had my superwhite bulbs for a over a year now and I have not had one go out yet! They look the same as they did the day I put them in. I also have the superwhites in the clear corner lenses, that really finishes off the front end! If you are looking for a good price let me know and I can give you the number of a great store that will ship them too ya.
I also got them from Sportbikes.net. The first time around I heard that Krypton and Xenon are different. Now I hear the same. Man I dont care which way or the other. The damn things are bright white and thats all I care about.
Thanks, White Night. I ordered my bulbs last night from Fred at Sportbikes. He's referring people to Paypal.com right now where you can use a visa to pay a private party. He gets $10 for the referral and I get $10 for signing up - so, it cost me $30 plus shipping for the bulbs and he got $50 for them. Pretty good idea for someone in the Mail order business. I'll post a follow-up when I install them.

I too contacted Fred at Sportbikes.com and am thinking about buying from him. Im kinda waiting to see how happy people are with the bulbs from him. So far it looks like they are good quality. I want to make sure i find the best/whitest/brightest bulbs available (short of true HID's). Im looking forward to more responses from folks with the SuperWhites from sportbikes.com. Also, how did everyone like the paypal? Seems like a great idea.

Paypal is the nicest thing. Specially since its payment right away. You dont have to wait for payment to be recieved by snail mail.
Btw: Its sportbikes.net not sportbikes.com. Sportbikes.com is some racing web page or something.

BUT if you get the DOT approved headlight bulbs, the ARE legal. I belive PIAA makes a set. www.darksidemotoring.com
The PIAA bulbs are the same as the ones on sportbikes.net . Your just paying for the name with the PIAA's. 80 bux they want for them.. I can buy a set for 40 without the name but same damn bulb
Jtray,
Here is my opinion, I purchased the Super White bulbs from the online store which are manufactured by a company called "Wizard" and as far as I can tell they are simple halogen filled bulbs with a non-optical quality blue coating. When I inserted them into my headlights I found that not only was the alignment off, but the light output seemed to be a lot less than the stock halogens. The bulbs that are being sold by Fred are a mixture of Halogen and Xenon Gas. The Xenon gas acts like a coolant for the filiment as well as a catalyst for Haolgen to burn hotter. The glass enclosing the gas does not have a blue coating but instead has a light blue tint which is added to the glass during manufacturing. This blue tint changes the spectrum of light being output from the bulb so that it closely approximates daylight. I as well have ordered the bulbs from Fred and will post on this board the results of one -vs- the other.

But the ones from the online store are NOT illegal. They are no where near those annoying blue bulbs that those BMW's or Mercedes use.
