Question Custom Pinstriping

Has anyone out there had any custom pinstriping done on their truck? I have an XLT and really like the looks of the Lariat pinstripe, but didn't want to buy that model just for such a feature. I have seen a number of trucks in my area with custom accents, but many have a whole lot of scrollwork that, in my opinion, detracts from the natural lines of the truck. I tend to fancy a "simple" motif with a few extra "twists" to make the truck distinctive.

Any opinions?

What is the story with vinyl striping vs. painted on? How about color choices on a black truck? Any former painters out there?

Vinyl stripping has my vote. The painted ones are nice too ,but if you have a problem later..........like a scratch or fender bender the vinyl will always match where the painted ones may fade some just enough the have a miss match strip. I`ve had them both ways, I like vinyl myself its so much easier to work with. I hope this helps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.........Lariat1 P.S. As far as color goes silver looks real good!!!!!!Or even Gold!!!!!!!

Jake,

You are correct, in my opinion our trucks need a little something like a pinstripe.

I had a dual vinyl silver pinstripe installed on my truck. Nothing fancy, just a simple average dual pinstripe all the way around including the tailgate and it really set it off nicely.

What about a "ghost" pinstripe? Something that kinda blends into the paint color but is still noticable.

'00 Expedition XLT, Silver w/Dark graphite interior, 5.4L, Stull Billet Grill and some other stuff. All in all she'll stay stock. Ok, maybe a Flowmaster 50 series soon.

Just a thought maybe.......a pearl color that kinda changes color when light hits it at different angles , or a metal flake design strip.....Lariat1

Red would be subtle on a Black truck.
Yellow would stand out on your truck.
Good luck.

Thanks for all the opinions, I am intrigued by the pearl idea, I will have to look into it. As long as it doesn't cost anything like the "Mystic Paint"

Most body shops and designers go with the stripe to match the interior color. In this case yours would be grey? I am also intregued with Lariat1's Pearl idea as this would be closer to grey but loser1 was closest to what is standard with his ghost idea, Black w/ charcoal grey stripe. Heck, you can always pull it off and redo it if you are not happy with it.
