Question Quick wax question

Hi everyone,

About a month or 2 ago I hand waxed my Black 97 F-150 with Turtle Wax. Whenever the truck is siting in the sun it looks bad. You can see swirl marks from where it was applied and a light haze. If anyone could recommend a product to remove the swirls and haze or give me some advice about what to do to get the truck looking as nice in the day as it does in the evening I would really appreciate it.

Thanks to all who reply

Jason

Here you will find excellent products to help solve your swirl mark problem. I personally use 3M swirl mark remover. You can find this product and similar products at the above web sites.

Try the products from ZAINO. I have a Viper along with a Lightning and use ZAINO on both.
Most of the people that own Vipers use ZAINO.
Give them a call 732-785-2951 or check out their web-site www.zainobros.com. Their products are not sold in stores, only available directly from them. Their polish will remove swirl marks if you follow instructions.

My recommendation is to take your truck to a professional detailer. They have the products and knowledge to bring your rides' appearance back. It will cost a little but will save you time and sweat. Afterwards, you can keep it up with products of your choice.

When I first got my truck I too went to a detailer But...I went to ask questions. This guy was so nice, he showed me all the products he uses and showed me how to use them. Plus he sold me a can of Royal carnuba wax to use on the truck. I've never seen this stuff in the stores but it's great stuff. I've never had a swirl problem with it either. So, my advice would be to find a detailer that's willing to talk. Barring that, try some of the swirl remover products the other's here are talking about. Those swirls will come out if you work at them.

almost forgot: I've seen ZAINO in the military stores. So maybe it's also in other stores too???

Thumbs up

Thanks to everyone who has replied. Here is the game plan for this weekend:

1. Wash truck with Dawn

2. Apply Meguiars "Gold Class" Clear Coat Prep and swirl Reducer.

3. Wax with Meguiars "Gold Class" Liquid Car wax

Does this like a good plan, will the hard work pay off with a beautiful shine or am I waisting my time?

Thanks again

Meguiars is good for a normal store bought wax, but if you want the best shine with the longest durability, and with easier application and removal, get Zaino. Meguiars always seems to leave smudges, unless you keep going back over the areas you've already been.

Zaino does have a longer drying cycle than Meguiars, but the results are better, and they keep getting better with each coat, unlike any other wax I know of. Obviously there is a limit to the "Stackability" of the shine, and Sal Zaino says it's five coats. That doesn't mean that you have to put five on all at once, but once you start, it's easy to become addicted.

As for your graphics, what color are they, and what is their surface like? Are they smooth and shiny, or sort of rough and dull?

Here are some links to pictures with the results of Zaino. NONE of the cars are mine. If it would have let me, I would have made these into links, sorry.

Jason,
If I were you I would go with Meguiars. I've been detailing cars and trucks for years and have never found anything as good as meguiars for the money. The key to a perfect shine and the riddance of swirl marks is to polish before you wax. The polish is what adds the "glazed" look, the wax just seals that look in. The polish is esential in the shine that you want in out of your black truck. I own a black suburban as well as my bright red f150 and those things get comments wherever I go. There isn't a swirl mark in either of them. If your paint is in bad shape, you would want to do some sort of surface prep before anything else. I've found Meguiars Medallion paint cleaner to do wonders. If you have abrasions on your paint, try a clay bar, they work unbelievably and will leave your paint as smooth as glass. My point here is that you are going to have to work on that paint to keep it looking nice. A black vehicle needs some sort of attention at least once a month. If you have a good hard shell wax on there, you can maintain it by polishing it once a month and waxing every 3 or 4. Cleaner/one step waxes will work, but you aren't getting nearly what you can out of your black paint! Hope this helps you!

Mike
