Question Paint Protection

I've got a bright red 2000 F150,4x4,SC, on order and the excitement is killing me!! I,m trying to find out the best way to protect the finish. Should I use clay on the finish before waxing? What is better, waxes or polymers? What are your opinions on Mother's
, Zaino Bros, Finish First, Liquid Glass etc? Are there any independant comparisons that I
could study? I want to keep my baby looking it's best! Any advice would be greatly
appriciated!

I have another post on another board which says this same thing. Use the clay as soon as you get it home. Then Meguiar's Cleaner-Wax, then a coat of their Gold Class (paste) wax. Avoid Liquid Glass, drug store brands (Turtle Wax, Nu-Finish, Rallye, etc.), and so-called "space-age" formulas (Liquid Glass removed the paint from my Miata, the others are a waste of money)

I have been detailing vehicles as a hobby for 20+ years and have tried virtually everything. I haven't yet found anything that works to my 100% satisfaction, but Meguiar's seems to be the best of the bunch-that is until I try the Zymol which is $1000 for a single can (I'm saving for this-and I'll advise as to it's effectiveness).

Try Meguiar's website; they have a form which you can fill out and they will specify what combination of products you need to use.

Thumbs up

Ron:
My 2000 just came in two Saturdays ago and I was exactly like you, except I have a black finish to worry about-the hardest to keep up. I couldn't find a bad thing said about Zaino, so I decided to give it a try. First thing I did when the truck came in was to clay bar the entire surface to get rid of rail dust etc. and I followed the Zaino instructions to the letter. I decided to put on three coats and it looks like a black mirror. I've been a Meguires loyalist for 10 years, but this is better in my opinion. I personally would avoid any cleaners, as they contain abrasives, which you just don't need on a new clearcoat, if you clay it down first. Otherwise, you may get a scratch induced haze on your beautiful new finish. Check out www.zainobros.com You won't be dissapointed.

Question

Thanks for the tips! I decided to try Zaino
products. More work to put on than Liquid
Glass and Zaino took forever to dry! Results
seemed the same as LG.

Someone told me LG is abrasive, anyone hear
the same? Is one better or are they both the same?
Thanks!
