Question ? Bugflector II

Just purchased a Bugflector II and was wondering if anyone else had trouble closing their hood after installing this brand of deflector?

I first used the adhesive, to mount for proper fit and postion, before I placed the screws. Now I can't get my hood to close! Any ideas or suggestions?

No mine closes fine. Mounted it same as you did. I belive there are two stops that you might have to screw down a bit. Yours might be too high. They are on the lip just above the radiator shroud, one one each side and appear to be two round rubber bumpers on a threaded bolt.

I use to own a 97 F-150 and when I tried to install my Bug Deflector II, I had the same problem. I adjusted the hood stops, but to no avail. I now have a new F-150 and with it a Ford bug deflector. This was definitely the way to go. You use the existing holes for installation and it fit perfectly.

Question

Y2K 4X4,

Which of the Ford deflectors did you purchase(Wraparound or Aero). They sell two types on their iCollection web page. Also, does the deflector use the rubber bumpers attached to the hood and does the top lip of the deflector curve up or is it parallel to the hood. Thanks in advance for the info.

I can't really offer too much in the way of suggestions without looking a it, I installed it the same way you did and it worked the first time. All I can suggest is look to see where the interference is (scratches or rub marks on the truck or the shield) and then try to adjust it in or out. Good luck.

Bono,

I guess I got the wrap around. Honestly, I'm not sure since it was a gift, but it extends from fender to fender and is the more expensive one of the two. I think it cost around $70. A good bit more than the Bug D II from my recollection, but well worth not having the hassle. Again, it was a gift. It does have the hood bumpers (with a template to make sure you place them correctly) and it does curve up. It's very similar to the Bug D II, except for it has a place on either side (where the hood body lines changes)where a little portion of the hood is exposed. It's hardly noticeable and it doesn't bother me.

I hope this helps.
