Question snug lid

i am about to spend $600.00 on a snug lid. i looked at different brands and snugtop seems to offer the best quality in my book. the questions are, has anyone bought one and how well did yo like it? am i getting a good price? and last but not least, is there a better and cheaper one that anyone in this list can give some insight on? thank you for your continous help.

i have been to a SnupTop dealer to look at the SnugLid and was told that I could get one for $600 painted to match my truck. They look to be the best looking covers that i've seen

------------------
'97 supercab, flareside, Moonlight blue
4.6, K&N FIPK, custom dual exhaust, Superchip, Progressive rims

Future Possibilities:
SnugTop tonnou
Flowmaster 40 Series
underdrive pullies
'99 front grille & bumper
anything else i can think of to boost performance

If you boys can get one painted and installed for around $600 then you've got yourself a GREAT deal. Depending on what part of the country you're from, the prices can be much higher than that. My son has one on his little S10 and I've got one on my F150. I wouldn't even consider another choice for looks, reliability and functionality. They make the best lid going in my opinion.

I looked at several before I bought the SnugLid. If you want a low profile water tight lid, this would be the one I reccomend. I am very happy with mine, the fit and finish is perfect. My cost was $600.00 installed and painted to match my truck.

Question

I live in Dallas and the best price I am able to find on a custom painted to match Snuglid is almost 800 dollars. Where are you guys shopping? Did you purchase online or local? Help me with some direction.

Thanks,
Karl

ezyonthegas, I'm in the D/FW area too. That's why I posted what I did about that $600 price. Superchip Mike will also tell you that prices on Snuglid run significantly higher than that most everywhere. I got mine at D/FW Camper Corral on Harry Hines Blvd. in Dallas. See Chris over there. He's the assistant manager. You'll get the best deal available around here. It'll cost you more than $600 though. With tax and installation it's going to run around $800. They do great work over there though. I personally find no comparison between the ARE and the Snuglid.

Denver, Arkansas or California is where these boys live who can get it for $600. Personally, I don't think it's cost effective to go to any of them to get a lid, unless you're headed that way anyway. But it's a great price. I'll bet Arkansas doesn't have our 8.25% sales tax either.

Make sure you look at the A.R.E. lid the price is the same and I think it looks a lot better and comes painted.

After doing several weeks of research, I found the average price of a hard tonneau conver is $585 to $620. The more reputible the dealer, usually the higher the price. The most expensive manufactures were Lund, ARE and SnugTop. These are also some of the best quality tops out there. I did plenty of research and found a good price for a good quality at "The Generals Truck Stuff" about $585 for one with the carpet lining. The SungTop and the Lund I looked at were $620 for the carpeted version.

I just returned my second snugtop.
Both of them would bow up in the center when it got hot out.

I also paid $750.00 installed & painted in northern california.

Any suggestions on a flush fit cover?
Just want it for looks.

Cool

Go with the snugtop. It's by far the best looking/fitting top made. I just hate the bubble, rounded look of the other brands. Snugtop made two different designs for the late models. A flush mount one that didn't cover the bed rails, and the more typical over the rail style.
The camper man told me people had returned the flush mount because it leaked a little, so I bought the other one for the same price. It doesn't leak a drop. I've had mine a year and a half, and no problems whatsoever.
I don't see how it could be warped by the sun since it is steel reinforced heavy fiberglass.

jbretard: Did the snugtop people have anything to say as to why the heat was effecting the top like that???

I've had an ARE top on mine for 3 years. It's the one you see when the ARE logo is flashing at the top (advertizing logo) on this board. The weather this week has been up to 99* with a heat index of 114*, no effect on the ARE top. Mine covers the black rail caps completely and has never leaked, even last year when I had to leave the truck out during a hurricane!! The ARE has contures in it to match the ridges on the hood. Looks great and mine matches perfectly

I have an Innovative Industries lid. It cost $800 painted. I installed it. This is the absolute best looking and fitting lid I have found for the 97 and up. It covers the bed caps and only is about an 1/8" thick on the edges, but it is about 1 1/4" thick in the center (recessed into the bed). It came carpeted and with the two locks on the back corners. The only downside is the 24 holes it took to mount everything.
