Even though I just got shot down from belvadere, check out the ARE lid cost is around $640. with a $20 refund if you visit their web site. It is a quality product and dosen't sag in the Miami Heat sitting on it.

I didn't mean to "shoot you down." You know what they say about OPINIONS, everybody's got 'em. Aside from the quality issue (which I'll never dispute with ARE products) it's pretty subjective. As for the Snuglid sag problem...this is my second one and I've never experienced a problem in the Texas heat. Maybe it gets hotter somewhere else, but I'd hate to be there...especially this time of year. Our high today is supposed to be 105. Didn't mean to hurt your feelings...I just prefer the look of the Snuglid.

I know this much. These blasted things shouldn't cost as much as they do...no matter what brand they are!

I have a Patriot lid, and I love it. Cost just over $600, painted and installed. Doesn't leak a bit and has been through one cold winter and one month long heat wave with no problem. Has a slight bubble to it but almost totally flat.

Just a general word of advice... If you are getting a lid, make sure that it is a quality lid. I have had the experience of someone elses lid come crashing down on my head. FYI, I think it was a Leer.

Maybe the problem was not a question of a quality product, but a question of a quality installation.

The lid was dealer installed. I believe it was a malfunction of some sort.

The Leer T600 is the best, late model, ford fit without any extra bumps. Perfect fit. Looks like a part of the truck. Last I checked a year ago was $650 painted and installed. Had mine three years here in South Carolina with no malfunction and leak proof. Gass struts might have failed on the one you describe and were ignored.

After reading everyone's message's from the past month I went out today to see the Snuglid & ARE "L" lid in person. I liked the heavy duty rubber seal on the inside of the Snuglid better.
The main difference was the price: In New Jersey the ARE dealer was getting $649+tax installed. The Snuglid dealer was at $765+$50 for the "no holes" snug grip mounting hardware +$40 installation + tax!!!! I almost passed out when I heard the prices. Having the underside carpeted was another $100!!

I have 2 questions:
Has anyone had a problem with the Snuglid gasket coming off when the underside is carpeted?

Can someone give me the name & phone # of a Snuglid dealer (State doesn't matter) who will retail it for $600-$650? I figure I could order it from them & have them "drop ship" it to me from Snuglid instead of to them. I can do the install myself.

You can also e-mail me the info: dominoe@tiac.net

Thanks

Go with an A.R.E lid. They have air assists, fits like a coffin-lid, never leak, won't bow in hot weather, a lock handle that's very hard to jimmy and I honestly think you could walk across it without damaging it. Plus, the white lid covers the black plastic protector strip on my white truck which gives it an instant, custom fatback look. It's sold nationally by H&H.

i got a Guidon fiberglass tonneau f/ the Pickup Palace, it sits on top of the black caps. it looks good. it is getting kind of hard to turn the **** to open it, and locking it is pointless since one of the brackets allows it to open even though it is locked. should it need to be replaced i think i'll go with an ARE lid.

Just ordered a Snug-lid saturday from the local dealer and price was $695.00 plus the 8.1% sales tax.
That is for painting and installation.
It comes out of Long Beach.

Snug Top is ok but, I thought the ARE was the best so thats what i went with. Its hasnt got any trim around the edges and also has an electric lock which is tied into my electric locks . Gotta love that !!

I think ARE lids are too bulky looking. Snuglids follow the lines of the truck better. That's just my opinion.
