Removal of chrome rocker panels and other chrome accessories

I'm new to the site and can't find anything about this in the search so i thought i'd ask..

How do i remove chrome accessories such as rocker panels and chrome door handles?

Has anyone done it before or heard of anyone doing it?

Any input would be appreciated, the truck had them put on by the previous owner and i'd like to take them off if possible.
thanks

What year is your F-150? I would suggest looking in the how to section. Don't know if this helps b/c I don't know the year.

Pliers? Did they mess up your paint? If it's stuck on with 3M adhesive like most of that chrome junk then you just need to get some fishing line and run it behind the piece you're trying to remove. You'll probably have to get an eraser wheel and remove any leftover adhesive.

Are you talking about the chrome from the chrome edition model f150s? Can you even take that stuff off? Or is that what you are talking about will09lane.

It would help to see a pic of the stuff you are talking about, since their are many kinds out there and differnt ways to remove them.

Its just your average after market rocker panels and after market chrome outside door handles. I mean i could figure out a way to get them off one way or another but i was just wondering if anyone has done it themselves before. Best way to do it? Any harm done? that kind of stuff

Well they have the sticker kind and then the thin metel plate stuck on for the rockers and then they have stuck on door handles and full replacements. You would need to remove each differntly.

sorry about that.. rocker panels are thin metal and and the door handles are stuck on plastic type. like i said i didn't put them on so not 100 percent sure how they are attached but the guy who owned it before me was real old so i'm sure he didn't put them on any real special/custom way, probably just had it done at a shop the standard way (3M tape, etc.)

Well have fun removing them then since the thin metal ones that I have dealt with come with a solid sheet of 3m tape like your badges do, but since it is such a big pice they are much harder to remove, but you would do as said above.
