That is a great idea. Today, I ordered the Hella FF50 oval driving lights to mount in my honeycomb grill through cabelas. http://www.cabelas.com

Question: Did you need to remove the grill to mount your lights or was it a preference?

Thanks,

Jeff

Bummer. I pulled the OEM grill to install the honeycomb one so I am familiar with breaking plastic fasteners. I'll set aside some time next weekend to install the lights.

Thanks,

Follow these steps and you shouldn't break any of the clips at all ...

OE812, thanx for that link. They have a bull bar that is priced very well. I will probably pick one of them up.

I just wish I could find a lighted grill emblem. I am contact several places in some hope.

Lights in '06 grille

Look at me:

Cibie Oscar SCs. No small feat considering there are no right angles anywhere. Got a stable mount though.

Thanks. Have to remove the grille to get at the bolts to aim them, but that's not so hard. I have them to within a fraction of a degree of proper aim right now. One of these nights I'll take the time to get them spot-on.

I was worried that the hood would be too flexible to render a solid shake-free mount, but it turned out not to be the case. For anyone contemplating doing this, I used some 1/4"-20 threaded blind rivets in the hood underside "balloon", and regular hardware at the grille mounting flange.

They're Cibie "Oscar SC" combination with driving lamp on the right and cornering lamp on the left. Very effective, if expensive.

Want my lamp set-up?

Anybody with a good XLT black ABS insert want to trade straight-across for the grille and brackets (now painted) shown in the photos above? My grille and brackets for your unmolested grille.

Brackets position a pair of Cibie Oscars (Oscar, Oscar Plus, Oscar SC, etc,) in the grille, permit full adjustability, and are completely stable (no shakes.) Decided to ditch the truck, it just isn't for me. Keeping the Oscars though, they are incredible. They're going on the Jeep, so I need to replace the grille in order to sell the truck.

Let me know. Send email to chris at leger.net

Thanks!

There's a 'kit' available from SS that looks similar:

Here

But for $329 and after reading this:

This grille was a pain in the "A" for my body shop to install. It comes with 3M double sided tape which is ridiculous. It would never stay in place using this tape. The "fit, form, and function" of this grille is less than spectacular. It does look HOT once installed but don't believe it when you read that installation is "easy". Also, the Hella supplied lights are NOT street legal. So they have to be "legally" wired to the vehicles high beams.
I'd have to say it's a DIY project...

Well, mine's free, for an XLT grille, and no tape involved. All steel.

It's just that I spent so much time on the brackets & fit, I hate to simply throw them out, but if there are no takers, I'll order a new grille from Ford tomorrow.

Best regards,

cjl

PS, checked the link... yuck.
