and sledd, i changed mine and it is better now, but i still might end up doing somthing more like urs. the only thing i like about mine is that it has a low point to collect any sucked in water. did u figure out any thing to solve the water issue in yours or is it even an issue?

i might be going to the junkyard this week

Crash, sorry, wasnt around this weekend.

I made this set up, as you can see from the link to my gallery smok][n posted. (thanks smok][n). If you have any questions just ask here or email me.

Smok][n, water isnt an issue for me becuse of the rise in the duct.
I know I wont run it in the winter though, will have to remove duct for then and go back to normal air box. Leaves and bugs are more an issue, as I do have to clean the filter more often.

Crash, mine is made from used parts off a lumina and T-bird. If you want me to make one like mine let me know.

ok finally got it fixed =)

i used the intake hose and cover from a aerostar van
i had to really mess with it to get it to sit right on the throttle body area. the v-6's throttle body cover is much smaller than the v-8's. i had to put my vid cam inside the engine bay while i closed so i could get it to seal tight lol.

but it does suk good now

thanks sleddogg for the ideas. : bows :

Looks great Smok][n. You will be much happier this way.

Glad I could help, hope my pics in gallery were a help. Does it make any better sound?

Looks like ya found a good set up in what ya have. I know there is quite a diff between engines. I had to check my hood clearence with the scoop off.

Anyhow Smok][n. Its looking great. Whats next now?

thx sledd, ya i wouldve never even had the idea if it wasnt for your post.
as far as the sound, i do notice a hissing sort of whine once i get over around 3000 rpms, but its not really that loud. but if i close my eyes i can sort of pretend its a turbo
the engine itself is louder with the k&n and the incresed air flow.
and it does feel like it has a little more power at higher speeds.

im prolly gonna get a magnaflow si/do exhaust from troyer pretty soon. i also wanted to get a pulley and efans. but im strarting to think i should prolly start saving for a while. my v-6 is pretty quick but with almost 70K on the clock now, i dont want to waste all my money on it. im really anxious to see the new L's come out in the next few years
*now accepting donations for the 06 lightning fund ; )*
*drops penny into empty jar*

Mine makes that hiss too. Have had people tell me it sounds like a carb.

I also do notice more power at speed, it must work alittle as ram air.

Yeah, the new L will be sweet. Couple kids to put thru college first for me. Then I will be getting me one.

Oh, and heres a penny for your jar.

sledd, i agree that it definitely adds to the performance of the vehicle. even if it doesnt work as well as factory installed ram air systems, combined with a good filter, it will push more cold air than any aftermarket intake kit

and thx for the penny! Ill have my lightning in no time!
but i do seriously see myself getting one. i love fast cars, but after doing a 360 into a telephone pole with my dads corvette, i realized i need something with a little more weight
